Smokies

Was there 2 weeks ago. 4 days of beautiful riding

We had reservations there 3 weeks ago and the rain forecast was scattered thunderstorms with a rain chance of 80% on 3 of the days and 60% for the others. Now the forecast looks more promising. Hopefully we'll have what you had.

Hope you have a great time Greg, that's a beautiful riding area.

Smokies next year

Have a great time Greg. Lets us know how things went. I'm planning a trip out to the smokies and Dragon Tail next year. Never been there so any info much appreciated from all. Looking for a good general area where can call home for about 3 - 4 days and ride out and back to same place each night. I'm being told to stay away from July & August as you'll cook to death in the humidity. i'll save a lot of question I have for the travel forum.

Because of the view and the food, we stay at the Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Pkwy (BRP). The Pisgah Inn is the government lodge with stunning views and their restaurant serves unbelievable food. If one wants to stay on the BPR, I believe the Pisgah is the only choice.

Greg,

I just got back from riding the BRParkway, and the tail, (july 3rd) OMG what a wonderful time I had, went up with a group of 12 bikes but rode only with four other guys, (non that I ever met before this trip) we all clicked, and had a wonderful time together.. As you now know, the roads there are unbelievable wonderful, and fun too ride.... This was my first time ever riding a trike (been riding 50 years on 2) and took to the trike like a duck in water....The Tail Of The Dragon was a total hoot riding a trike'd wing...:clapping::clapping::clapping:

I'm good friends with Mr. Cain, who is the fastest GL1800 rider on the Gap. My gf like the adrenaline rush, so she co-rides with him. He summers near the Gap every year and knows the roads well. Yesterday, he took us on some incredible roads and through these bankrupt neighborhoods that have a few very expensive log homes that sit at the tops of some of the mountains with views on both sides. Once on top, going from peak to peak is like a m/c road coarse through the trees. The few homes that built early there, mostly have gated driveways. Today, he's coming this way to show us more.
