Switched to a Spyder

spyder floorboards.

I just bought a 2012 RT SE5 after riding 2 wheels for almost 40 years. I was injured in Iraq and am no longer able to safely ride on two wheels do to Balance issues. So far the Spyder has been great. Easy to ride with the hand controls. Easy to maneuver , and a true reverse gear (Not some slow after market snail pace reverse) makes it easy to back it out of or into my garage. The only thing I really miss is being able to stretch my legs out in front of me. I think I saw somewhere that they make Highway pegs for the spyder. If anyone else has seen these or tried them let me know how they worked out.

I bought full length floor boards from Seal Floorboards they are great.

Switched to Spyder

Picked up a new 2017 RTS Saturday. 122 miles so far and loving it. Gave my 2008 Roadstar with Richland trike kit to my son. Spyder rides so fine. Started riding at 12. Now 74 and looking to several more miles. Now to get the new ride rigged out to my needs. :clapping:

everyday ride or not ?

Hi ... I totaled my 2012 Harley Electra Glide Ultra limited 5 months ago just now getting to put pressure on right leg .. I am not real confident that I will be able to handle a 1000 lb bike ... My question is.. Will a Can-Am Spyder hold up to everyday use -or- do I just need to go back to Harley and just buy a trike .... I do not want to buy something I will have to keep fixing because I am using it too much ..... All feedback is welcome...... I ride alot ..

Keep on riding

Hey guy. I also ride a lot. Over 250,000 miles in the last 16 years on 9 different bikes. Tried a trike - hated it. It was like riding in pickup truck with the windows down - boring. Rode a Spyder and was immediately impressed with the ease of steering, the performance and the comfort. Read several blurbs from folks who have put 30,000 to 50,000 miles on them. Bought one and am learning about. It is a different beast.

I replied on your other thread but forgot to mention something we like a lot. The maintenance schedule is much longer on Spyders. I believe it's 9k on the oil and the engine and tranny share that oil so you only need one kind sitting on your shelf. That's a big plus in my book if you ride like you say.

Yep 9300 mile oil change on the Spyder the only draw back is getting to the oil filter but once you do it once it goes pretty quick.

If you ever have the misfortune like we have to have to take the Tupperware off as much as we have, you'll find it gets pretty easy. So getting to the oil filter also becomes easier. But it is what it is.:gah: It is a heck of a way to learn all the little tricks. I learned most of the tricks on Harleys too. I still think I prefer the Spyder. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with my Indian. Convert or just go Spyder and be done with it all.
