U-Joint Grease Fitting(s) Location

Ok I give up, looked at the sorry excuse for an owners manual and did several searches on this forum, no luck. I've got a 2017 Motor Trike Razor kit on my 2010 GL1800 and I'm trying to identify where my u-joint grease fitting(s) are. I believe I have one where the drive shift enters the engine. Getting to it looks difficult unless there is some trick that doesn't require a lift. Is there a second grease fitting back at the rear end?

Have about 5K on the conversion looking to make sure the install filled the joints and lubed where necessary.

Thanks all, sure wish there was a Fred Harmon GL1800 set of "How-To" DVD's available for us newbies and do-it-your-selfers"

Last I heard ya had to drop the drive shaft, maybe that has been improved and updated. Perhaps some expert will get into the conversation.

If there is a zerk at the front u-joint, some are able to get a grease gun on theirs by looking through the rear brake m/c. If you remove the 2 bolts for the m/c, it will allow for a little more access. Depending on the shaft, there can be another 2 on the shaft. One at the rear u-joint, and one in the middle of the shaft. To check, lift the RR tire so that the shaft can be turned by hand while looking for zerks. As bikerbillone indicated, sometimes the shaft has to be removed to get to any of them.

Kevin your '10 with the Razor conversion has one fitting on one of the end caps of the front U-Joint. It will point straight out the side so if you remove the side cover (the one you remove to check the oil) and look for a green U-Joint coupler assembly near the rear brake master cylinder. Roll the trike until the fitting rotates around and you should be able to grease it... There is also one fitting on the rear U-Joint that you'll have to raise the rear end a bit to get underneath. Some owners jack the rear end up and put it on blocks. Others use jack stands. In either case rotate the drive shaft until you see the fitting. Just a couple squirts of grease is all you need. Don't blow the seals....

Here is a simple ramp arrangement I built and use regularly if I need to get under my trike.

Geez Jerry, that garage looks way too clean! I could only find 2, maybe 3, leaves that got in the door! ;)

I wish it was always that clean Jim. That photo was taken several years ago. A lot has changed. I now have a lift table planted in that space and shelves along one side. Still room for me and the trike but add one person and it gets crowded!!

Hi Ruothere, I have a 2014 Motor Trike Razor and I grease mine every oil change at 4000 miles. I have a video of one my oil change and I grease the shaft, shows where they are. If you're interested it is here.

Thanks Jim, that's what I was looking for. Next question, to raise up the rear end where is the correct location to position the jack, just in front of the cross members (X)?

Thanks.

Thank you for this video, I too also change my oil ~n~ filter on a 3,000 rotation . and grease my drive shaft, (under bike) BUT I did not know about the fitting inside, behind the oil fill cover, (thanks for that "new" knowledge) looks like I gotta shoot some grease in that area also, today...

I have a Roadsmith model (not a Motor Trike) but I'm assume'n the grease jirk, is located in the same area (???)
