Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum. I'm putting 14" apes on a 2014 Triglide. Doing it myself and will be posting how it goes. Trying to do it while maintaining original wiring and lines. So far ... rerouting the clutch line and it's plenty long enough. Also have trike all apart for a color change. Let you know how that goes.

David,

Welcome! Show us some pictures! What brand of apes are you going with? I did 12" apes on mine but wasn't sure if 14"s would work with the stock wires.

Welcome to Trike Talk

Give yourself a good swing L to R to be sure your cables dont bind;)

Absolutely ... no problem with stock clutch line after rerouting it. The stock front break line (on triglides) will not work. Needs to be extended. I will comment more after finishing the extension. They say it will work on 2 wheel touring models because with ABS the lines are routed different. Check out a great video by Factory 47 ...

The video is not for a trike but is a great video for anyone doing apes on touring models. These guys seem to be top notch. Definitely check it out.

Does your Trike have ABS?

If so hope you get ALL the air out when you change the lines;)

Hate to see ya have to have the dealer use a scanner to energize the ABS module

I figured a way around some of the early car manufacturers modules, but it will not work on late model vehicles

No ABS on 2014 Triglides. Bleeding is not a problem. Fortunately!

I don't think you will have issues with the install 14" apes are approx. the same as 2+2 Wide sweepers I needed a clutch cable which you don't have hyd. clutch makes it easy. keep us posted good luck Fred  PS welcome to the forum.

As was said in a previous post...we love pictures! Start a thread and post pics of your work in progress.

Finished install of 14 inch apes on 2014 triglide

Project went well. Did not need to lengthen clutch line ... just reroute a bit. Did not need to lengthen handlebar wiring ... it was a bit close and if I was doing it again I think I would buy the plug and play extensions. If I was putting 12 inch apes on I would not. Had to lengthen front brake line ... very easy. Put the stiffer handlebar bushings in ... I like how solid they are now. Used the Wild One apes. All total less than $250 for complete job.
