Everyone who has ever attended or plans to attend the Trike Talk September Maggie Valley, NC gatherings may find this show interesting.

HGTV is televising a half hour show about a mountain side log cabin home located in Maggie Valley, NC. The show presents a short story on how and why the owners chose to purchase this particular cabin about a year ago along with a detailed home tour.

The owners will eventually retire here, but for now, they have been renting the home out in the "Smoky Mountain Retreat" community of log cabin homes.

I had the opportunity to rent the "Sky Cabin" as it is named, last summer for 2 months. I will be staying here again during our 2018 Maggie Valley gathering.

The show airs from 11 to 11:30 PM Eastern time tonight on HGTV Log Cabin Living. If you have Comcast, the show is on channel 415. The show title is "Maggie Valley Search".

Wasn't that the area hit by forest fire last year? Hopefully most have rebuilt by now, thanks in part to Miss Dolly!...

I made it through the first 10 minutes before I was booted off, in favor of our "local" 11PM newscast.:(

Did the young couple being shown the property end up buying the Sky Cabin? Wonder if they'll live there or continue to rent it out?

I couldn't DVR it so anyone who watched it to the end, please feel free to finish the story....

Wonder how new ownership will affect your upcoming vacation, David?

There will be no effect at all on the upcoming rental in 2018.

The couple who purchased the "Sky Cabin", in the HGTV show, did so a year ago. They were the folks I rented from last year.

The filming took place at that time. It took a year to edit about 36 hours of taping down to a 20 minute time slot for the show and find a time slot. The show was originally scheduled to air in early October of 2017 but was bumped.

The current owners plan to keep renting for the next 20 years until their retirement.

Anyway, this community has many rental homes available. The trick is finding a nice home with a "trike friendly" driveway.:)

I have rented in this community for the last nine years. The "Sky Cabin" is by far the best "trike friendly" drive I have been on. There are two switch backs on the main road to the driveway. The trike handles these very well going in either direction. Some of the grades exceed 12% so posted speed limits are 15 to 20 MPH.
