No firearms until you're 21....

I've got a better idea. How about you can't vote or purchase a gun until you are 25 years old UNLESS you have served in the military or have a full time(40 hour) job. I'm not even sure 25 is old enough for some people. If these kids want to change things then make it hurt and make it mean something. I think you need to be contributing to society before you can vote and going to school isn't. And I also think everyone and that includes girls/women should serve in the military on some level. From that point on I feel their eyes are more open and have experiences that will help them vote and also know the basic of guns. One of the main problems today are far too many kids know nothing about a gun so they fear it. So educate them and make it a requirement to vote or at least have that 40 hour per week job and not be simple students bouncing off walls. There is a good idea in there somewhere.:p:p:p:D:D:D

Hey, my friends,

I was basically saying not of the items mentioned(spoons, vehicles, or weapons) could do anything if not for a human behind or operating said item.

I spent 22mos. in Nam and know a little but stiffer gun laws just means law abiding people will honor the laws passed where as anybody with ill-will towards others will use any means to accomplish their desired end of things.

I believe most of those carrying out these cowardly deeds are or have mental issues that needed to be addressed.

Just my pea brains .02.

Ken

How about gun sales be limited to only those certified to determine mental stability?

Good idea R/A. But how does one get "certified", and here's the $64,000 question: Who pays??

There are so many ways this could go, one way or another. It's scary to think someone could be denied gun ownership based on one "bad" potentially flawed mental evaluation.

The gun dealer would pay for the training and pass the cost to the buyer by increasing the price of guns. The real down side of this is head cases would have illegal guns.

50 years ago (1968) "kids" who were being drafted (and returning Veterans) marched and spoke out to end the war in Vietnam. While it is not wholly attributable to those marches, public opinion changed and the war ended.

Yesterday, "kids" marched around the world to end gun violence. The tide is turning

These "Kids" are the future. They already must deal with the TRILLIONS of $$ in debt we've left them. They also must deal with the ecological mess we've left them.

What the H*LL happened to you old farts? Dinosaurs went extinct because they could not adapt, Don't be a Dinosaur.

Protests, moments of silence, gun outrage. How about the mental state ? There are other ways to do harm, a bottle of nitrate - and ——— in a back pack — it goes on n on. Gota stop with the gun issue. It’s not the answer , try thinking OUT OF THE BOX !

Just a afterthought, School kids know there classmates better than the parents do, there own kids. If a student or students suspect Somthing - SAY SOMTHING as most dummy up and think someone else will.

Ken, I applaud and thank you for your willingness to answer your county's call. It must gall you that Vietnam is now a globally respected trading partner after giving up so much. In the grand scheme of things, your sacrifices were unappreciated by the world at large.

I couldn't agree with you more about just "stiffer" gun laws, criminals and the mentally deficient will always find a way to KILL. In that, you are 100% correct!

The answer is right in front of us. Just look at gun violence rates in ANY other first world western country. Canada, England, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Australia, etc..

Severely restricting gun ownership works. Those countries named above have not devolved into "police states" and hunting is still a very active sport in those countries.

http://www.visitfinland.com/article/moose-the-king-of-the-finnish-forest/

Each autumn between 35,000 and 50,000 elk are shot by licensed hunters around Finland. Hunting quotas are set to correspond approximately to the numbers of calves born in May and June. Moose numbers have to be limited by hunting because wolves and their other natural wild predators are scarce in Finland today. Moose-hunting is a popular pursuit in rural Finland, where there are 310,000 registered hunters.Hunting clubs form the social hubs of many villages. Most of the resulting moose meat is shared by hunters and their families and friends, but some find its way to supermarket shelves or the kitchens of restaurants specializing in traditional Finnish dishes.

Only in the USA do we tolerate our citizens to be killed by guns.

WHAT A LOADED SUBJECT. Pun intended. this is a very complex problem. For a country founded on freedoms and liberty to think about government stepping into our private lives once again and limiting our rights . The school gun violence is a terrible but the recourse of trying to take our guns away will not make any of it any better. There are web sites and under ground places to buy and build assault weapons. Stopping the legal sales of all guns would only increase the number of illegal guns.

I do agree with age limits and more extensive background checks. I bought a new hand gun last weekend in about 15 min and walked out with it. I remember as a young man having a 3 day wait to come back and pick it up. I don't think this was a bad idea.

ALL of my guns (except the one on me ) are locked in a gun safe in a locked room. Just be a responsible gun owner.

The guns are not the problem, its the people behind the trigger. They need it make SURE the are not selling a gun or ammo to a nut job. A full mental history needs to be assessed. If that takes a few days to get it done then that's what we have to do. Right now an upset angry person can go into a sporting goods store and walk out with the gun of their choice and the only question they will be ask (other than that worthless paper you fill out) is " do you need some ammo ?"

This wont stop all of the shooting I'm not sure anything will at this point.

Today's news is Trump is for raising the gun buying age for all types of guns to 21. = Hope he does that without haste.

Doesn't mean a 9 year old under supervision cannot handle, hunt, or target practice, only that they cannot purchase a firearm.

What is wrong with that logic?

Trump didn't do it because he can't do it plus it was just more talk talk talk and his part. He is obviously owned lock, stock and barrel by the NRA.

Okay ... so if we take away all guns ... the crazies will just drive over people with their car ... when they do that, does the radical left call for car bans???? Or truck bans???

Exactly... "crazies" will always find something to use. Bans are not the answer. It is not the item used as the weapon, it is the person's mental state who is commiting the crime.
