Rear Fender

Setting up the rear fender for marking and cutting, any ideas?, Fender time.JPGRim is 18" and tire is 24" tall. I hope to follow the arc of the rim...

Could you set the fender on your tire at the height you need and then use a home made compass to mark a line at the radius you want from the center of the axle?

You would have to center it front to back allowing for chain adjustment.

That is a good idea, kind da did that myself.I used 1/2" spacer blocks to keep the fender up off the tire, from there I was measuring for support arms that are supported by the axle. You can do the same thing, say you need a inch clearance, than make one inch blocks and tape down on inside of fender, set fender over the rear tire they way you want it, maybe tape to tire so it does not move, than tie a string on the axle, measure the distance you like, tie a marker or pencil to the string at that distance, mark away, should do it just fine. Keep everything the same and you should be able to do the other side just the same. The other way I seen was mount the fender to the tire and than they used a small hand tool and cut out the fender to the shape they wanted it, but these guys do fenders all day, LOL

The Trikester

HPIM1809.jpgI built the "Trikester" in 2014 for some local riding fun, The fiberglass fenders were a bitch, Then the eScooter-HPIM1831.jpgThe eScooter has a 16" high rounded wheel and the Trikester has 18"x8 wide wheels, swap meet fender blanks...EDIT: Can you see the little driving lights in the front lower frame rails?

Fender square

Where to start? Measure the tire height 24" plus 1" for fender clearance, so now I have a 26" tire and a 32" fender Diameter, This is the only fender I can find that is 11" wide, Then the overall width of the tire, also notice chain and brake clearance's. Square Fender.JPGBottom side up - square the length, then the width and do not forget the top of the tire (3 levels) Mark the tire top position plus 3/4- 1" Now measure that mark to the top of the wheel opening, mine was 6" on both sides (wow! lucky me) Transfer the mark to the outside and look for squared sides, mine was pulled in 1/8 on one side and 3/16" on the other, not to bad for a fiberglass molded part-Square sides.JPG Can you see the centering marks, and I must remember the chain adjusting and the fender will be attached to the swing arm NOT the axle, :gah: Now I am ready for rough cutting...

Rear Fender

The rear fender will not work according to my liking (fit), The 32" length is just to much arc, and I have tried everything, but for the sake of looks maybe I can use it with "Shenanigans"???:gah:

Coil overs

Coil over shocks and brackets.jpgThis virus thing is really cramping my style, a little slow but still a go-go, need to change the front tires, some machine shop time, then I can set ride height again.

It is slow going these days, but at least we are still going and doing things, just at a slower pace.Style and looks is what caught me up in the new front end I am building. Machinist hit me up yesterday, guess some still work, going out today to see what is up and how much they got done for me. I just do not have all the tools needed, they do, and the guys are not charging me crazy prices for their time. Looking good, sure things slow up, but you keep going and eventually it does all get done, okay that is my outlook for now, LOL

Mock coil overs

Coil overs are in mock upCoil overs-shifter-floor boards.jpgSpacer for the shift linkage at machine shop and floor boards waiting final welding. I just might have met a new friend today while out bicycle riding met him on his Reverse Trike about 6 blocks away from my home, talked a little while both agreed this virus sucks...

DisAssemble

Looks like all the bike and car meet ups are being canceled, lock down is a bitch but I am so relieved to be retired with steady income and a big garage with a project getting closer to FINISH...Time for DisAssemble final TIG weld and paint... TrikeTalk will not let me post any photos? Or click on others "LIKE" So what's the use?:gah:

Rear left side (2).jpgChains-Wires-BrakeLine.jpgWow! my thread is working again? Mock ups are pretty much over and everything is ready for finals, would you damn believe I take the 520 chain (Honda) to the bike shop for cutting to size and they loose the master link and then they say it was never there... more set backs, AND you know how much I love wiring, YES I would rather have a root canal:gah:

Yes, it has been a bit of a treat to watch this project form into completion. Wiring can be a pain in the butt, but it can be a bit relaxing, at least for me it was. Hope you the best with this final step, looks so nice, makes you want to ride it.:D

1-Ride heigth adjust.jpgFinished is ride height, suspension, chains, shift linkage rod and exhaust do not want to play fair so I'll make some adjustments to the frame uprights, and be back on the rear fender/wiring and braces. About noon time It's 90 degrees in the man cave, NO wind,
