I'm wondering if Love Jugs are a good investment. I live in southern Arizona and the summers get pretty hot. I try not to ride if it's over 100 but something you just gotta ride. I've got a '17 with an M8.

I'd appreciate your opinion of them. Thanks

I have them on my 2015 Freewheeler and I do think they are well worth the investment. Just click on The Trike Talk Store, decide which ones you want and go for it.

Think you've got the ideal by now, ThumbUp I too have them installed on my 2015 freewheeler and can tell you that it has helped in the reduction of heat. Not saying it eliminates it, just helps in the cooling of the "jugs" :D

Yes, as others have said. I have the Mighty Mites on my 2015 FW and they do a good job of lowering the temp. Well worth the money.

I have the Wards fans, similar to the Love Jugs on the bike for several years now, especially helpful in our Florida heat, good investment in my opinion.

Rick this has been discussed a lot and most really love them. If you go to the forum home page a go to the bottom you will see a link to LOVE JUGS. The owner of this forum sells them though his shop. Great service and a good price. Randy will take care of you.

I've had them now since 2010 on 2 trikes and would not be without them.

Scrapped 'Em

Had the LJ on my Twin Cam.Lousy 1 year warranty.2 weeks after warranty expired had one fan give a deaths rattle and crapped out.Pulled the whole shebang off and tossed em on the scrap metal pile out back.Still back there under all the junk.

Thanks for the info. Will keep that in mind

Old Road Dog, You may have sort of screwed that pooch. I talked with one of the owners of Love Jugs and he said that they have yet to enforce the 1 year warranty if the fan was defective and they reportedly are easy to replace. You might want to consider going out to the scrap heap, digging those LJ's out and calling the company. They really seem determined to only have happy customers. Like others have said, I wouldn't be without them due to the high temps that our engines produce. Just my 2 cents on the subject an YMMV:p

I had to replace one of my fans on my first trike. Love Jugs sent me a new fan no problem. It lasted for 2 more years when I sold it and purchased my 2013 Tri that also has had them since August of 2014. without issue.

Naw. Gave up on hanging dingle balls on my bike when I bought the M8.Runs way cooler then the twinkie.Besides I don't care for the hot air being pushed onto my right leg.No free lunch.

Old Road Dog, If you are comparing a Twinkie to the M8, you must have had an earlier Twin Cam with the Cat in a very conspicuous place. I transitioned from a 2016 TC to a 2017 M8 and subjectively do not experience much cooler temps from the M8 except for the rearward placement of the Cat on the M8's. Kevin from DK Customs has done some thermal experiments and reports that the M8's are essentially running just as hot as the Twinkies.

Anything I can do to keep my engine running a bit cooler is seen as a good thing in terms of potential longevity of the engine and the nice thing about the Love Jugs is that they are not a modification that can void the warranty on the 2017/2018 M8's. One additional benny is that my chrome LJ's seem to add a nice bit of chrome to the "boring" side of the M8 engine. Seems to me to give it a bit more character than the "penis/testicles" horn cover they put on the M8's :xzqxz:

No argument from me that fans blowing on an aircooled motor will drop temps. Even the nit wits we have in D.C. could see that just putting a household box fan next to a motor cools it down. I have a highly advanced laboratory for testing this sort of thing. One bay of my garage is sectioned off to store my trike.DARPA is jealous of my test equipment which consists of a $5.00 wall thermometer. The twin cam when stowed raises room temperature about 15 degrees where the M8 raises it about 5 degrees.See-all very scientific. Now why would I want to cover up those beautiful jugs?I've spent my entire life trying to uncover jugs.If anyone wants to use fans that's fine with me.Its just pushing the heat around. The best way to cool down these motors is to add fuel, among other things.Which I will do when the warranty expires.
