Over dinner in Eureka Springs DK Customs, Posse Rider and I came up with the idea of a moving Mississippi River Gathering. We'd meet in Bemidji Mn ( closest town to headwaters) on Sunday July 14, 2019 hit the headwaters on Monday July 15 and head south following the River to its end.

Anyone who wants to arrive early can join me at the Midwest Motorcycle Rally in Winona Minnesota. Riders may do as little or as much of the route as they wish joining or leaving the group as they wish. Rough plan is to do 250-300 miles per day with a couple of 2 night stops along the way.

Plannning stage right now so please sound off if interested. Feel free to advise on places to see route info, a great two night stop, etc anything and everything to make this a great event

For those doing the entire route Kevin at DK Customs has graciously volunteered to donate a trophy or medal of some type for each rider.

That would be a very long ride. I might join somewhere but no way could I ride the full distance. I will keep watching to see the planning.

That will be a nice run

Having lived in Mn til 1997 there are very nice roads along the river, a fall run would be nice also to see the colors of the leafs

Winona is home to the annual Mn Flood Run;)

When we did the River Road many years ago. Closest motels we found were in .Bemidji,Mn. We started there went to the headwaters at Itaska Lake & continued on the ride. There are a good # of motels in Bemidji. Will decide later on exact dates, to start. We will prob come from Deadwood Rally if dates are compatible. Not familiar with the Rally you speak of, but will try to find some info.

Here is info on the Flood Run in Mn;)

That sounds very interesting and would be interested in taking part if my physical condition improves. Had a number of trips planned for this year, but the ole body decided otherwise.

Out loud

Flood Run if this old memory serves is done both Spring and Summe

Just thinking out loud - in playing with maps stops are looking like:

Bemidji Mn, Winona Mn, quad cities area, St Louis, Memphis ( St. Louis or Memphis a two night stop) Jackson Ms, and New Orlens La.

anyone know of biker friendly hotels along this line feel free to mention them

This would be a much prettier ride in Sept & cooler when we get to the southern states, time it to arrive for Tx Hill country ride in Oct.

we had no problem last year & will be there again this year. So I take it from that you wont be going this year?

Reservations are made

Planning to arrive 10/3

Waiting to here from you on location of stops going out on day 1&2

Hey Johnny B!

The wife and I are very interested in this trip!!! Sounds great!....Need more details as this thing evolves.

Cheers!

Hmmm maybe not make the start. Deadwood in "19" is June 9-14. It is a 2 day run from Deadwood to Bemidji. Will have to decide if we want to leave rally 2 days early, or not. At first I thought we were in Bemidji nite of 15 but just realized your saying nite of 14. Didn't mind leaving 1 day early, not sure about 2 days early.

very interesting

that sounds like a nice ride, will have to see the dates, we have a number of ride planned for this year already. we will watch this and make up our minds later.

Hey John!

......PosseRider might just have something about planning River Ride trip in fall......It's now June 8th here in DFW Texas and it's already approaching upper 90's to 100 degrees (traffic jams can be hot as the devils breath!)..........and July is usually hotter and August is dangerous outside!!!...........also, Louisiana is very humid down south and gets alot of "frog strangler rains" in summer........"I'm just say'in!" (of course there's no way to predict exactly when it will rain there but it rains a bunch there)

.......... I don't know about ya'lls northern temps in the fall (too cold can be just as bad)...............well, just thought I'd chime in with these thoughts......... but "whenever" you plan it, we will try to be there for sure!!!!!

Cheers!

Sept. is not bad. We could plan it so we finish with time to get to Tx Hill Country ride.
