New to trikes

Hi Rich! Welcome to TrikeTalk from west Texas! Tires and oil are 2 subjects of which you will find a LOT of different opinions. You might try doing a search for tires and see ALL of the threads that come up...lots of information in there.

Welcome to the Gang from Western Colorado.

Since this post is in the HD conversion forum, I'll assume you ride a Harley conversion. But, we all know what it means to assume .. LOL.

I would look into the Avon trike tire line. They are getting great reviews.

The tire is a Dunlop touring Elite II D402F MT90B16

The rear tires P325/60R15 Dunlop OT Qualifier radial

Avon has a new Trike specific tire called a Cobra Trike. It is relatively inexpensive and I have been substituting other rear application tires for the Cobra. Give it a try, it won't be worse than the standard Dunlop 402 you have in the picture.

First, welcome to Trike Talk Richard! Glad you found us! You have a real nice looking trike!

Second, +1 on Jim's and Fuzzy's recommendation of the Avon Trike tire! That is what I am running and am satisfied with the ride and handling.

Brand new to trikes, and bikes in general. Have a ‘14 48 and am researching converting to a trike. Have been told a sportster doesn’t have enough power to convert. Anyone have any insight on this statement? Have been looking into Frankenstein conversion - Good, Bad, indifferent?

Another positive review for the cobra trike tire just had it mounted and after putting 400 miles or so it is amazing the difference between the bridgestone that came stock on vulcan 1700 and the cobra.. The handling is super improved corners better no more feeling of plowing through a turn rather the feeling of being planted and also tested it out in the rain. Tried to do doughnuts in a parking lot and had a hard time trying to make it skid this tire makes you feel like your on a tail also i got it for 114 at dennis kirk

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I did a conversion of an 883 Sportster years ago and it was powerful enough and it was converted with a Frankenstein conversion. If you go with their conversion buy the whole kit. Frankenstein makes a very good conversion and I found it to be very well made.
