    Default Khrome Werks 2+2

    The Khrome Werks 2+2 wide sweepers look like something I might want. Any additional info? Cable/wiring extensions, rider comfort, ease of install. Thanks, Guys.

    I can't believe no one has answered this one, there are quite a few on here that have those bars and are enjoying them. I have 12.5 wild one bars on mine and I liked them, drove a trike with them on so that is what I put on mine, otherwise I might have went with the 2 + 2 sweepers by the looks of them.

    I put the KhromeWerks narrow 2+2 sweepers on my 2014 TriGlide and after 5000 miles I am very happy with the results. I chose the narrow version since I felt that their span was right in my comfort zone. I did the "sit on the bike and reach towards what feels most comfortable" process a number of times just to make sure I was happy. Worked out great for me. I do a lot of long touring days and having a comfortable hand/arm position keeps the fatigue down.

    I also changed the bushings to polyurethane while I had everything apart. I only notice a bit more vibration at idle, otherwise I like the more positive feel they give while riding since you really steer these trikes unlike a two wheeler. And, with the additional leverage you gain with the 2+2's you really give the rubber OEM bushings a workout. In addition, I took the opportunity to put on heated grips since that install process is also much easier when everything is apart. I did not have to use any extensions for cables, etc. although the clutch and brake hydraulic hoses are straightened out about as far as they will go. There are other posts on this topic. Do a search.

    With all that said the installation process was relatively easy even if you are doing it by yourself. There are some good videos on YouTube that are worth watching just to familiarize yourself with the process. They also give you some short cuts that will save you time and energy. I think I spent about a day getting it done, but I wasn't in any hurry. And, i was glad that I did the bushings and heated grip installs at the same time since much of the work of doing those individually is the same as changing the bars.

    I probably spent more time futzing with the heated grip install than anything else since getting the control wires snuggled into the right spot on the clutch side without pinching the cable is a challenge not to be rushed - don't ask me how I know. Suffice to say that my years of cable splicing proved valuable.

    The first thing I installed when I got my 18 Tri glide was the 2+2 narrow sweepers. I ran everything external just like stock and didn’t change anything, had to reposition the clutch and brake cable slightly. They are much better than stock. I am 5’9’.

    Installed the bars myself. No prob!ems, cables all fit with no extensions. I've had two shoulder replacements,right and left. These bars were the relief O needed on my 2017 triglide. The handling is a lot better and ease of driving is much better. I ride in the mountains a lot and I can finally keep up with the 2 wheelers. If you buy the these bars you will love them

    09 I needed a longer clutch cable 14 and up with a hydraulic I don't think you need to change anything just relocate connectors in faring. I changed mine 4 years ago I was ready to sell trike back and shoulder pain made it a real pain in the butt to ride more than 20 miles. Switched to the 2+2 wide sweepers for 3 reasons first they were higher 2" higher straighten out back, secondly short arms 2" closer to me, and third 1974 I hit a collie dog at 45-50 Mph on a black top highway 9 days in hospital many injuries mangled right wrist two surgeries and close to a year rehab. I needed straighter grip angle than most grips offer these wide sweepers do. I now would not sell Old Shiney for anything. Bars are a personal thing It takes two people to really get a measure of what is needed. Ride closes eyes and holds out arms to where they are comfortable and the other person measures from existing bars to where hands are of the rider seated on machine. This method should get you real close anyway. I'm sure there are others who can explain this much better than I. Good luck in your search again they are personal fit. Ride safe Fred

    I just ordered this bar for my 17 TG. I went with model #300517 which is the Khrome Werks 2+2 Wide Sweeper. I'm 5' 8" and found myself hunched over with locked elbows using the standard bar. I'm hopeful there is free play to adjust the height where it works best for me. I will be doing the install myself and will try and route the wiring through the bar as some have been able to do. I'm hopeful I won't need to change anything out to make them work.

    I believe you will like them the grips are a little straighter than OEM but that is what I like. please keep us posted on install tuff to beat for the price as well. I love mine. travel safe Fred

    My husband installed these on my 2010 summer before last. Big help in the comfort for me. The angle of the grips is much better. He said he had to get a longer clutch cable but all the rest of the lines and wires worked fine.

    Those look sweet and have to be better than these sticky black stock ones. I was considering purchasing the HD Willy G grips but havent really gotten serious and shopped around yet. I’ll have to check those out.

    Default Changed the throttle by wire

    I fought with the stock throttle by wire for a long time when I changed to the narrow Sweeper 2 + 2 handlebars. I just couldn't get the wire out of the hole in the middle of the bars far enough to connect. I ended up going to the Harley Davidson dealer and got a longer throttle by wire to put in. It was easy once I had the longer wires. All the other stock cables worked, but like was mentioned before, the clutch cable is straighter than with the stock bars.

    All the shoulder and back pain from riding with the stock handlebars is a distant memory. Now I can ride all day without a problem. I highly recommend the narrow Sweeper 2 + 2 handlebars!

    My 17 doesn't have clutch or throttle cables but I may need to buy wire extensions with the Wide Sweepers I purchased. I'm hopeful I can make everything work bone stock. I'll find out on Saturday when I start the install.

    Default 2+2 Heated Grip installation

    Last weekend I inquired with the parts guy at my local Harley Dealer about putting Khrome-Werks 2+2's or Harley Tallboy bars on my 2015 Tri-Glide and he said that my stock Harley heated grips could not be installed on ANY aftermarket or Harley optional bar. This sounded bogus to me. I can't understand that.He also tried to steer me away from The Khrome-Werks and towards mini apes which I didn't want. The install price was $1500.00. Sounds ridiculous to me. What do you guys think?

    Sounds like BS to me. My local dealer installed my wide 2+2's on my 2015 for $185, including one extension. I have a hard time believing that the heated grips are handlebar dependent.

    Tim, sounds like a bunch of dealer bull**** to me, you should be able to put heated grips on and if you run the other wires external it should take no more than 2 hours. Maybe a little longer for the heated grips but shouldn’t be that much more., I would check another dealer or Indy if you have one close by. If you are mechanically inclined at all I think you can do it yourself, a lot of good install threads on here. Let us know what happens

    I think the dealer repair guy wants to design YOUR ride They must think your a train station, Bend over !

    The heated grip will fit any bar the same diameter as the stock bars. The quote I got from a dealer to put some 14" Burly bars on my Road King earlier this year was about $1500. That was buying the bars, all the extensions, and labor. My Road King doesn't have a batwing to take apart, so labor would be less than a Tri Glide. You won't need extensions. So, for a dealer, that's probably not a terrible quote. But your better off doing it yourself. Make sure you have a service manual to get the right torque specs. I recommend Blue lock tite on every bolt. It's good insurance. You're going to want to be sure nothing comes apart on steering and control components!

    PS. I plan on spending less than $1000 and put the burly bars on my Raod King myself this next winter.
