A lot of dealers have a seat demo program were you can borrow a different seat for a few hours & try it out. Check your dealer. Mustang, Saddlemen & HD hammock seat all get a lot of good reviews.

As others have said, many dealers have seats you can try for a few hours. I settled on the Zeppelin after a couple others. It's kind of like the old plunger seats on the hard tails. It absorbs the jolts that had my back and neck hurting after a few miles. I still feel them through the bars and floorboards but not on my seat, back or neck. Pricy but IMHO worth it. The only downside is that it kind of divorces one from he bike. One wouldn't want it on a race bike but a triglide aint one.

Saddlemen seats get good recommendations and I chatted with them several times. But they said their seats will not fit the TGs properly. It leaves a large gap along the bottom edge of the saddle in the area where the side covers are. The seat is just too narrow. Saddlemen says they are planning to design a seat for the TGs but it won't be for a while since they are a small company and don't have much time for R&D.

Local H-D dealer had a demo Hammock seat. I've had those on my last three CVO Ultras/Limited and am familiar with them. Nice seat but a bit pricey and I wanted to try something else.

Had a Mustang seat on my '99 Ultra and really liked it so I settled on a heated Mustang seat. Looks good and sits great. Wife likes it also and that is a big consideration. All in all we like it better than the H-D Hammock seat.

Similar to the Saddlemen the Mustang does leave a bit of a gap that I spoke of above. But not nearly as much as the Saddlemen. Saddlemen tech support sent me a photo of their seat on a TG and it definitely did not fit well. If I can locate it I'll attach it to a post.

Had my wife's stock seat redone for her Tri Glide several years back now. Could not find another H-D seat or aftermarket that fit her. I was hesitant to send off her stock seat so waited until winter. You can pick all sorts of materials and rider or passenger options. We just had the rider part of the seat built for her. Looks like a tricycle or police seat. I ride an Electra Glide police with the original police seat and air shock, very comfortable. I think she could outlast me in terms of seat comfort. Only problem now is that if I ride the trike it no longer fits me and I feel cramped up. The seats are built to the riders height, weight, leg and arm length , etc. She loves it and they did an awesome job.

Just remember, other then the fully adjustable Road Zepplin air seat, all others are just static seats - they don't change. They may feel great at first or a couple hundred miles down the road, but eventually they all will become uncomfortable. I have tried so many seats in my 59 years of riding, that for me they all suck. Most seats are great for 300 miles at a time or less. Then H-D came out with the RZ seat back in 03 and I've had one ever since (2). I had to buy the second one because H-D changed the frame a few years back. Otherwise I'd still have the first one. I will admit I did squirm just a little toward at the end of my Saddlesore 1000 trip a couple years back.

I also tried all the seat pads - air/water/gel. Some were good, but I didn't want an additional part to worry about.

GOOD LUCK IN YOUR QUEST.

Now I'm in heaven with the RZ seat and a beaded pad(for really long trips). It doesn't get any better then that.

Remember, if the seat you buy starts to be uncomfortable after a couple hundred miles = you can't get your money back and will have to shell out even more money for a second or third seat. Or just pay the price for the RZ seat and be done with it.

Other than the RZ seat, your best bet is one of the custom seat builders. They make a seat from the ground up. There are a couple still left. Back in the day there were about 3 or 4 really good ones. They were expensive, but last and fit better and longer then a seat you get off the wall from most of the seat companies now days.

The RZ seat isn't for everyone. It is wider so if you have short legs, it may not be for you. Also I was told if you have longer legs, it positions you closer to the front so that my be unacceptable.

I replaced my seat and passenger backrest with the 2018 Anniversary CVO versions. They both are softer and more comfortable, have a diamond pattern sewn in, the seat is heated and the stitching is blue to match my Anniversary Trike.

I put the Road Zepplin on my 2015 and love it. The front has two adjustments and the rear has one.

The first seat had 3 bladders in front and 2 in the rear. The center one (the one H-D took out) was absolutely GREAT for my sciatic problem. I think the center bladder was the best one of the bunch. Don't know why H-D removed it. Probably for cost reasons....like everything else they do.

Contact Allen at Mean City Cycles.

He does fantastic work. They will make you an appointment to have your seat at their shop. On the day of the appointment the seat will be brought in and worked on. Turn around is swift. I had him do my seat on the Ultra, moved me down and forward, perfect balance of both.

My 12 is getting hard. Noticed that the vinyl was not tight anymore. Cave a Corbin on the 91 FLH. After 80k it’s better than ever. Ordered one for the Trike with blue stitching and piping to match. To be here by late next week. After all it’s the last ride I’ll proably have.

Hi Steve,

I have the same 2018 Tri-Glide as you and I also live in Tn. I am going with a new Mustang seat. I had a Mustang seat on my 2011 Tri-Glide and also on my Patrol bike, when I worked for a police department before I retired. I recently tried out 4 different seats at a dealership demo trial, and again liked Mustang the best. If you decide to go with Mustang, maybe we can get a better price if we order it at the same time? I deal directly with the factory in Mass. Give me a call if interested (203) 910-8111. Steve
What part of tn are you in?

Hammock ??

I had the HD Hammock on my '13 TG and put it on my "15 TG. Can't say it helps for longer ride comfort as I start shifting around at about 100 miles but it certainly helps with pot hole shock and RR crossings.
