    Default Stallion Cover

I found out that a standard Type 1 car cover fits the Stallion like a glove. I will post pictures of my stallion tucked away under my white tyvek car cover soon. My dealer wanted $350.00 for a custom cover, and no doubt it would fit better, but I paid $70.00 (with shipping) for my cover, and I figure I could buy a bunch of them for that price. I have heard of other dealers selling these custom covers for $250, and some even got them for free. The custom covers that my deal had was black thin fabric that would fit better in the trunk, but I just could not see the difference. If you are on the web and you want to use a car (some sites will not allow you to pick the car cover unless you put in your car, I had to call the company to get the info on the sizes) you can use a Mini Cooper for the size. I was told it is the smallest standard car cover size they make, and they are all the same size, which is 13'x5'. Front to back it fits very well with a little extra fabric under the front wheel. The cover I bought had two plastic tabs that you can place anywhere on the bottom elastic and fabric band. I located it in the center of the Stallion, and I have a small bungee cord that I attach on one side, and slide it under the trike to attach to the other side. It will hold the cover on in the strongest winds. I use it when I park downtown to keep prying eyes off and to reduce the risk of someone poping the lock on the trunk. I have had it out in heavy storms and it did not budge.
    The only con is:
At the rear wheels it is tight over the roll bar, and about 1-2" of the bottom of the rear wheels sticks out. So if you have the money get the custom cover, but if you are willing to have 2" of the bottom of the rear wheels peeking out, well this may be an option for you.
    The Pros are:
Low cost, and competitive pricing on the more exotic fabrics.
    larger selections
On my white one I am able to decorate it with anything I want using a sharpie. I was able to put my licence plate info so the Po-Po don't bother me when I park downtown. It will also deter a theif if your writting is unique.

Over all this is the way to go for me.

    Lightbulb Trailer hitch Luggage Rack

    [URL="http://www.wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/2056_Goldwing_Cooler_Rack_Rivco_18x30_Lighted_Cool er"]

This is a great option I found to expand your luggage storage space

On the other site someone posted a location that was $50 cheaper. I found this to the be largest rack 15"x30". It fits well, and I am able to cary two rolling suitcases on it using a 15x30 bungee net (cost $10). I was able to install it onto my trailer hitch by removing the hitch from the Stallion, and clamping it into a bench vice with a towel to protect the finish. I used locktight (as on all other repairs) to keep any bolts from backing off during travel. I also drilled additional holes in the peremeter to allow me to secure the large bungee net more uniformly around the edge.

    Pros:
Great large platform to carry gear, suitcases, and anything else you don't want to, or can't put in the trunk.
It has a quick release cotter pin attachment, so it goes on in a snap.
You can leave the attachment base on while towing a trailer (You can't have the rack on, duuu).
It is lightweight aluminum, with an alumimum mesh bottom.
I use it to carry bags of ferterlizer, and boxes of tile.
The rack itself weighs about 7 lbs.
The trailer hitch is rated for max 100lbs, which is plenty for most things you will carry.

    Cons:
It is close to the exhaust, so you have to be carefull on hot days. The whole rack is in close proximity to the exhaust fan, and on a 100 degree day after riding for about an hour (to the tile shop, and Lowes) when I went to take it off I had to use a towel as it was very hot. I think it had more to do more with it being so hot, and the engine cooling fan was going the whole time.

I will post some pictures at a later date. I only put mine on when I need to run to the store and haul materials, and on weekend trips.

Question Power block and accessory plug question

I would like to put some power accessories on my Stallion. Can anyone suggest where to locate a power block so when I install my additional lights and an accessory plug I can just connect to that? I would like for the plug to be hot only when I turn on the ignition, does anyone know which wires to connect to?

One more question: What is a good power block and accessory outlet to use? Where did you find a good price? I noticed the Honda power plug had a nice cap on it, could I use that one?

    Default Power Block

    Thanks Ben,
I am not sure about this one, as it seems too big to fit under the seat. Any suggestions on where to locate it so it stays safe, or can I just put it anywhere under the frame away from the heat?

    Default Trike Cover

    Hey Mattell-
I sell the factory covers for $250 not $350. Though they arent inexpensive, they are high quality custom made covers and fit like a glove. They also fold up into a really small package the size of a half a loaf of bread to store in your trunk and can be ordered a color to match your trike. Just my opinion, but they are worth the money as nice as the trike is. If you were to opt for a less expensive cover it seems that a short boat cover might work well too. I mean with the shape of the trike, it might work well. What do you think??

Default The custom cover kicks butt!

No doubt Bazzoka your cover kicks butt! See my first post "My dealer wanted $350.00 for a custom cover, and no doubt it would fit better, but I paid $70.00 (with shipping) for my cover, and I figure I could buy a bunch of them for that price. " I am posting this with the pros and cons so people can make their own decision. I would rather have your cover than mine, and one day I may buy one from you, but for now (until I can pay off my Stallion) I am going with the cheapee cover. The fact is I would like others to know what I had to take a gamble on to figure out, maybe someone else will save me the trouble on something else. Thanks for being a dealer, we need more of you!!!!

    Default Tail light LED conversion

After a call to TBMS I was requesting the type of tail lights so I can order the LED tail lights for my Stallion. TBMS was only able to tell me the tail lights were from a 2006 Acura. After much searching on the Internet and the road I think I have it narrowed down to a 2006 Acura TL. Can anyone confirm that?

You are so close. 2002-2003 Acura TL would be the tail light asembly replacement used on my 2008.

Great posts Mattel! Please keep`em up. Just wanted to share my thoughts on the factory cover so folks would know whats available and a description or short review, but I agree the more options a person has the easier it is to make an informed choice.

Thats why forums like this one are so helpful.

Lots of input on all kinds of accessories, service issues, etc. I love it.

There is no better person than an owner to give the straight scoop on any product because unlike the dealers (including myself) they have no financial gain involved. I do want to be a straight-shooter and not over-sell anything. If its junk I will tell you its junk.

    Question Tonneau Cover

Yesterday I did a search for "Stallion Accessories" and this item came up.

Question: Does anyone have one of these?

Are all of the accessories one finds online made by TMS??

Looks to be a good idea but I'm wondering how it attaches and if it is fairly secure?

Might be a nice security item for extended public parking?

Actually.........these are two different covers........one is labeled
Tonneau Cover and the other more briefer version is listed as a Sun Shade.

    Smile Southwest acc

It looks like the tonneau cover has tabs that extend into the trunk and loops that go over the mirrors. I'll call Southwest tomorrow and ask them how it attaches and if it is weighted at the sides. I wonder how it would do in the rain?

    Default Covers

Thanks for checking on this. I appreciate it.

I had emailed Southwest this AM and asked where they got their accessories and they wrote back and said that they are made by a guy in Phoenix. I never thought to ask about how they were attached.......a "DAH" moment.:o

Thumbs up Prying Eyes and hands

I have heard about these covers and I have been waiting for them to come out. Two weeks ago when I was in Blowing Rock NC I was sitting down and watching the people gathered around my Stallion, and I was surprised to see one guy yanking on the steering wheel, and flipping the seat up and down, and lifting the lid for the gas cap!!!! I have seen a lot of people standing around and looking but I have only seen one person do that!

I cannot wait to see how much they are and what colors they come in. Two thumbs up for South West for giving us some accessory choices.

    Ben,

Do you think the LED replacement is brighter than the stock one? Would you recommend it? Do you have a style number or a website of the one you purchased?

Thanks for the confirmation, that would explain why it was soo hard to find one on the road.

We have a yellow Chevy SSR Convertible. It's interior has a retro-like style that folks seem very curious about. On numerous occasions we've watched people from restaurant windows who reach over to touch things in the inside. We thought perhaps the sunshade cover would deter folks from fiddling with things yet be easy for us to take on and off. Plus it would be nice for when it is raining. Just a thought.

I ordered a set of pouches, and a black tonneau cover today. Kathy at Southwest was very nice to deal with, both on the phone and email. Pictures to follow.
