2003 GL1800/Roadsmith Trike. After using reverse (works well), then when moving forward in 1st gear, engine bogs down (valve rattle), feels like starter motor is still engaged? After a start/stop all is well. One suggestion was to let trike move a little after using reverse to let drive gear on starter exit ring gear. But if bike is in neutral I don't think ring gear will be moving?

This is a real shot in the dark but try it.. I make a practice of doing it a couple times each year.

Remove the right side engine cover (the one you remove to check oil). Just above the rear brake master cylinder there is a large spring. Wash that sucker down with spray silicone real good while activating and deactivating reverse. Road dirt, dust, and grime builds up on that mechanism... It may cure the problem. At the very least it will wash out the crud.. :xszpv: :xszpv:

Hope that helps.
