VANDERHALL: Vanderhall Forum

I did make it to Pigeon Forge for Labor day weekend. Traffic in town was bumper to bumper Saturday thru Tuesday! Once put on the Parkways and Blue Ridge mountains it was very nice. Most scenic viewing areas were packed though. Next time I'll skip that weekend!

What happened to the trailer hitch the Vanderhall use to sell?

Any aftermarket vendors out there yet?

I was told that liability issues made them rethink about the trailer hitch which they no longer make available. There are 2 places to get one that I'm aware of. A Vanderhall dealer in Iowa and someone in Orlando. Don't have more info at this time but sure someone on the site will have it. Tomg

Been looking at Slingshot and Vanderhall.

I know both have good and bad issues.

As for Vanderhall. I really like the Carmel models with the roof.

Are the windshields still cracking and front axles breaking. Been reading things I dont like when you spend 30K + on something.

F4 makes a plastic windshield and provides a gasket for the top and bottom which really makes it nice if caught in the rain. I've had mine for 9 months now and happy with it. And if anyone out there needs a glass windshield I have one. I'm on the Florida east coast in Titusville.

As I understand, there was a CV boot issue with the ABS brake rubbing on the boot which caused a leak. A recall was put out to repair the issue which I did at the dealership while I waited. Tomg

What year is yours and sounds like your happy with it. Yeah I heard the newer models have the CV boot with no issues now and the older ones had the recall. Still hear about the cracked windshields, hoses rubbing thru, starting issues, CV joints.

Just didnt expect all that on the vanderhall. But I do like the front wheel drive. ;)

I do like the Vanderhaul better than the 'other brand' if I had had the $ and had to make a choice. As I recall tomg, you had a trailer for your "V" which makes it a fine machine for the 'long ride'. By the way, not to hijack, Tom, but wasn't it you that had an accident falling from the roof recently? If so, are you on the mend? If not, my apologies.

Yup, that was me! I'm doing much better and have probably close to adding 1000 miles to the odometer, weather permitting. Still have some lower back pain which may require surgery for some nutty putty injections between the vertebrae if the pain gets too much. And the CV joint issue was really the earlier ones out the door. Mine is #23 so they relocated the ABS line on both front wheels. I do have a trailer hitch on mine and had it modified to a reciever rather than the ball style. I had used an aluminum rack for years with my Stallion rather than pulling a trailer. Much easier to pull the lock/pin and put the rack behind the motel door than either pulling a trailer everywhere or finding some place to secure it while staying several days in one place. Tomg

New to Vanderhalls

Good day to you. We got my wife a Vanderhall Carmel GT, a 2020 model a couple of months ago and she really loves it. We hope to make the 2021 Deadwood Rally. I'm still looking for a part number for the oil filter for the Carmel 1.5L engine.

Go to any parts store or Walmart and look up the 1.5L Chevy motor or ask a clerk for help. Tomg

Nice ride, nice wrap!

Just picked up my own GTS! Love it. Just wondered if you could tell me how this fits over the battery terminal. The dealership put on a shark security device, and just laid the cover on the terminal!

Can't help you on that 'Larry, But in the mean time ' Welcome To Trike-Talk...:wave4:..

Vanderhall would like to get acquainted...!

Thanks for the welcome. Doesn’t look like a lot of Vanderhallers here, but hope to share my experiences and see what others have done!

You're right Larry, there's probably not as many Vanderhallers that frequent this site as there are other "trikers" or as we Vanderhallers like to be called ourselves, "auto-cyclers". You would have to look up Vanderhall forum groups on FB, as there are quite a few. Mine just happens to be South Dakota Vanderhall Owners. I welcome you and other "auto-cyclers" to go to my site and if your state does not have a Vanderhall group, you're welcome to join mine. Mark your calendars for July 9th - 14th. That is when my state of South Dakota puts on the Deadwood 3-Wheeler Rally, now in its 9th year. Last year, we had over 30 Vanderhalls that attended. I personal hosted my 6th riding event during the rally, last year, my event catered solely to owners/operators of auto-cycles, Vanderhalls, Slingshots, Campagnas (T-Rex), Morgans and any other 3-wheeler that has a steering wheel and an enclosure for operator and passenger. To learn more about the rally, go to its website, http://www.d3wr.com, where you can pre-register on-line and see what's scheduled for events and activities. Also, there will be demo rides for those that might be interested in actually becoming one of us, put on by Black Hills Powersports, Rapid City, SD. Hope to see you and others there!
