Should of listened to the advice to stay away from the showroom.

Nope ... didn't buy a new toy, but, I did stop by the Honda dealer to order a few screws I need ... they have a blue 2018 GL that is way kewl. It's the DFT model. So the sales manager is a friend and he saw me looking ... not a good thing.

Long story short ... I took a test ride ... WOW ... I'm impressed ... I really ... really ... really want it. Not only is it gorgeous, but, the DFT is way sweet. For those that don't know ... it's a 7 speed automatic that you can manually shift with hand triggers.

It also has various "ride modes" which are cool. If you put it in economy mode, it's hard to get it to really accelerate. It does it in a controlled manner. It has a rain mode that works with the abs and prevents wheel slippage .... Like I said .. kewl.

It also has a walk along mode ... kind of like reverse but goes forward.

So many kewl features.

Here's the biggie ... 3 year unlimited warrantee with available 5 extra year warrantee ... 10 year updates on the maps ... pretty kewl stuff

Lord Give Me Strength :D

Dang... wish you hadn't done that. I came REAL close to doing the same thing.... but decided that my body strength isn't what it used to be even though that GW is 50# lighter. I know they have a nice low center of gravity which helps substantially...but.... oh well.

How many $$$ ??? I didn't even ask the dealer. You know the old saying - if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.

As luck would have it we find ourselves shopping for a 'good' supplemental insurance for our medicare plan and THAT turns out to be about as much as a new trike payment. So, like so many other seniors, we have to choose between our enjoyment and our health. The old 1500 will just have to last us a few more years. :(

I am one Wing rider that couldn't wait to see the new 18 when my dealer got one in the store last February. When I saw it I was disappointed. Storage is greatly reduced, windshield and fairing is smaller, nothing, but nothing from my 2012 in the way of accessories can be used on the 18, and overall the bike looked actually smaller. I'm not sure how someone could pack for a long trip since with the new storage limitations. I doubt you could be gone longer than a weekend. The electronics are nice but with so many other negatives it wasn't my cup of tea. I know several posters here have talked about how sales are great in their areas, but my dealer, as of the first of August, had only sold one. A member of our local GWRRA chapter bought one and loves it, but there certainly hasn't been much of a buzz to go that direction. I'm sure Honda is attempting to appeal to a younger crowd, ( so many of us Wing riders are senior citizens), but I left the dealership hoping my 14 lasts a long time.

I guess Im a lucky guy. I was at the local dealer last week to ask about my clutch issues. Got no answers and walked right on by the new bikes. I didn't even care to look. Guess not getting or hearing what I wanted made me mad enough to pay all the new bikes no attention.

Although the new Slingshot parked next to my trike got my attention. Strange contraption that one.

I was not too worried about the storage as I usually strap a dry bag to the passenger seat and only pack tools, foul weather gear and such in the saddle bags. The trunk is reserved for stuff I buy on a trip.

The moment has passed ... all the work I've done on Helga has paid big dividends ... she riding smooth and quick and quiet ... and ... she has every thing I need on her already.

I must be getting old. The more times I go through the "Making it mine" drill ... the harder it gets.

All that is left now is to replace the Head light Adjustment/Hazard Switch (It's a unit) ... the switch is worn so that it won't lock with the hazard lights on. Hazards only work where you push and hold the switch. New switch is here, so that will happen soon.

Soooooo ... guess I'm keeping Helga for awhile ... LOL ... get my permanent plates tomorrow.
