Our son-in-law Tony was in Louisville, KY on business a couple of weeks ago and struck up a conversation about motorcycles with one of the engineers that was in his building. The guy told him he had an Uncle that lived a couple of hours south of Louisville and he had an old motorcycle that he was thinking of selling. He didn't know what year or even brand but he would give him a call and find out.

A couple of days went by and Tony found out it was a 1956 HD Panhead and made arrangements to go see it, it's been in this guys barn since 1994, the last year it was titled. When he got there, and we're talking back country dirt roads he struck a deal with the Uncle and is now the new owner. He said it's fairly rough but the motor turns over and the tranny shifts, the tank was also drained and was dry and the bike has the original wiring harness still on it, the numbers also match and the original frame didn't look repaired.

Quite the find in my opinion, the old girl is coming back to the Chicago area the 2nd weekend in November to get ready to be back on the road.

It's alive !!!

Right after he got the bike home from Kentucky his company sent him to New Orleans for 3 weeks, but he's back home now for the Holidays. He got all the fluids changed, rebuilt the carb, new spark plugs, battery and fuel hoses. After 24 years in the barn, it lives to breathe another day. Blurry video from the compression on the cell phone but the audio turned out great.

I couldn't tell from the pic's ,but is it a straight leg frame ? My 56 was and i think all of them were . I believe the straight leg frame were made for 2 years only. What a great find.

Kevin, I haven't seen the bike in person and can't really tell from the pictures either, I try to find out after the New year.
