I could have saved $2500 by doing the install myself. IMO - I have better than average mechanical skill set. However I would want to participate in a conversion myself before taking on a full blown project on my own bike. The instructions I downloaded from thei website were very detailed. I did save several dollars on crating, shipping and taxes which would have been included if I had the kit shipped to my home. Those three items combined would have been 1/3 the cost of labor.
Recently I took my newly converted bike to the dealership with a couple of annoying issues that appeared after the conversion. Left front blinker flashing rapidly and the Trip A & B feature was not working. Tucson HD determined the left lighted control switch pack had gone bad as did the Custom Dynamics LED turn signal assembly. Both were functioning as designed prior to the conversion. I'll chalk it up to "cost of conversion". All systems are working fine now. Oh yeah, I had to replace the original 4 year old battery shortly after the conversion too.
I am glad to see your post. I had almost decided on a Lehman kit when I went from their site to Facebook it looked like they weren't keeping up with their Facebook page which made me wonder about their business. I hope this works well for you. I am interested and am following your posts.
Hi, I am a newbie to the forum and happy Lehman owner. Last May I had an unfortunate accident while touring in Missouri on my 2013 Victory CCT. When we received the settlement I was torn between adding 3rd wheel (mostly for wife’s peace of mind) or going back to 2 wheels. I finally decided to do both. I bought an older Vstar from a friend and found my tike at Desert Thunder Motorsports in Kingman, AZ. It was a new factory conversion that had been sitting in the showroom since 2015. I flew to Vegas, rented a car and drove to Kingman and bought it. I received confirmation from Champion/Lehman that they would honor the standard 3 year warranty and from Victory that the conversion would not nullify the factory warranty from Polaris. So I have basically my old bike with the Lehman conversion... and a bike and trike kit that is from defunct manufacturers. I love it. I test rode a tri-glide and hated the feel, IRS is the way to go.
I will try to post a pic.
+1 on that! You are going to love your IRS!
I've always told myself, "I'm not lost unless my fuel gage is on E" I'm constantly looking for a new route to get there. Not faster just different.
