Foot boards for the Spyder

Anyone have any clue why the driver foot boards for the Spyder cost $1000.00? That's just nuts... I'm hoping there are an aftermarket option. I don't have a Spyder yet. I'm hoping to get a Ryker if the seat is comfortable. However I will buy a used Spyder if the Ryker is not comfortable.

It's not just the footboard but the chrome area around it. And it's all tied together with a pivot so if you have a panic stop you can break past the normal stopping point of the brake lever and real mash the brake down. It's quite a piece really. You can find them on eBay for slightly less if you are patient.
