Started Fixing Jessica

Front End

Okay ... so I was feeling froggy this morning and went out and installed the front fender and the Gen II fork brace. I was having a heck of a time getting the back half of the front fender "aligned" to have the same space on both sides. Was driving me nuts, then, the light came on. I loosened the screws holding the extension on and it aligned right up. Snugged them up, put the fork brace on, then the front of the fender and Voila.

Even though we haven't had any sun for like two days ... I think the pictures show how good the fender shines.

I also put the bike on the center stand so I could mark and drill the trunk for the luggage rack this afternoon. To do that I always put the rear suspension on the max height (makes it easier to "lift" the bike) and while I had it running, I took a pic of the new LCD ... I am so jazzed about that.

Feeling pretty good today.

Mounted the CB Antenna, still haven't decided if I need a CB Radio, but, I want symmetry in the rear.

Also drilled and test fit the Luggage Rack. Took it back off again and prepped and put the ceramic stuff on ... this time tomorrow the rack will be done. :D

Wheeew ... the monkey will once again have a ride ... :D

What's 'AMG'?

I remember seeing many years ago a 'Goldwing Edition' Honda Ridgeline truck, painted in yellow with the 30th anniversary logos on it and other things that made it unique.

Gorgeous day today ... 50's and sunny with no wind.

Finished up the CB antenna and the trunk rack.

This pic shows the ceramic sealer, if you look close you may see the holes for the rack.,

Gorgeous Day

So nice today ... that I did a little more.

Installed the passenger risers ... they were on a set of passenger boards that had the chrome backs on then (x wife was short ... but she never rode ... no one rides back there now, but, I got them, so what the hay.

Also installed the Kuryakyn Ergo II highway peg mounts with Switchblade pegs.

Then figured I should put the side panels on before I scratched them up.

So Gorgeous Today

Last ... but certainly not least ... I took Jessica out of the stable today and went for a ride ... Only like 8 miles round trip, but, sure felt good. Knee did really well. It was a little stiff and tender during shifting, but, so worth the twinge. Got a Jessica fix, so should be good for a day or two ... :D

Nothing new

Had a big day at the VA today ... audiology, labs, x-rays and an hour and a half therapy session ... when I got home, I gave Jessica a pat on the saddlebag and went in to ice the knee. Annual physical tomorrow ... so she may get another pat tomorrow ... LOL.

Couldn't stand that Jessica was out in the garage with her dash in a state of un done. So, I did go out and finish the windshield adjuster install. Also swapped out the 1/4" 20 cap screws on the highway peg mounts and brought the SiriusXM vehicle mount, CD BT thingie and the charging stations into the house and got new gorilla tape and velcro installed as necessary. When I get a little caught up on the knee inflammation (icing it a lot), those will be my next installs.

Still thinking I may do a trip in mid to late March. Might be a put the bike on the trailer and drive somewhere warm, Mesquite, New Mexico, not sure yet. Last therapy is scheduled for March 12th, so after that, I'm free ... LOL.

Had a little time this morning after I did my therapy and before I went to the VA's therapy. I decided I could do the "Other Jessica" Disney Pin.

Ground the pins off, put gorilla tape on the back, did two coats of verathane (sp?) to protect it from the sun. Then mounted it.

It's a 2006 pin promoting cruise ships or some such stuff. I like it because It's got a grey anchor ...LOL.

Here it is:

Here it is from the eBay ad:

I also started doing some tinning of the wiring for the relay operated fuse panel Zook recommended. Pretty nice unit, should make a clean and safe install. I'll post more about that when I get it actually installed.

Snow Again

I am so sick of snow (sorry Lord ... I know we need the moisture). Every morning between a half inch and and inch. By 1pm or 2pm it's mostly gone. Today it was about 1.5" of wet heavy stuff. Yuk. Then as if to say ... take that ... it spit the wet, melt as it hits the ground stuff all day, still spitting.

Okay ... complaining over. LOL.

I decided to get the relay operated fuse box ready for install. Tinned all the ends of the Accessories I plan to power as well as, soldering on the terminals to connect the relay kit to the battery and the fuse box. All I need now is a decent day to install it.

I have always liked the Kuryakyn Dually pegs, but, on the Gold Wing they sit about a 1/2" higher just due to the thickness of the rubber. It is something you get used to, but, on longer trips it is noticeably less comfy. Being a creature of comfort, I've longed looked for a mount that would allow me to use the Dually pegs and lower them about 1/2". I found on the Wingstuff site a pair of Goldstrike mounts that are for their pegs that appear to do just that. Ordered them, taking a chance that the Dually Kuryakyn pegs would work with them. Similar mounting so worth a shot. They came yesterday and since I have a spare set of OEM mounts, I decided to see if they would work. They didn't work with the Kuryakyn mount screws, the screws needed to be about a 1/2'-1" longer. So, since I was heading out anyway, I made a stop at Fastenal and picked up two longer screws. The end result, the pegs work and move the Dually's down about 1/2" and forward about 3/8". Perfection. Not sure it shows up in the picture, but, I get questioned if I don't post pics .. LOL.

As soon as the sun returns to Grand Junction, or, at least temps over 35*, I will mount them.

Okat ... there e sun here and 40*

So, I mounted the dually's.

Not Sure you can "see" the offset in the pics, but it feels good.

So since I still had so spunk.

I mounted the sun visor I got to "protect" the LCD and Make it "show up" better. I agree with Carla, it looks a little tacky, but, it's functional.

Still had some pizzaz left.

I've been playing with a mod that allows me to replace the OEM antennas with Firesticks.

I did this awhile ago in 2003 on my first 1800. I did red antennas as it was the Illusion Red bike. Looked good and the fire sticks work very well with the CB and the radio.

I kept the quick disconnects that where modified to 8nMM verses the 3/8", so they will screw into the Honda mounts. The quick disconnects also work well when you want to cover the bike.

I bought a set of 3' fire sticks that are red, white and blue, w/stars in the blue. They are cool and I may put them on, but 3' is a bit long. So, I painted the red ones machinery grey, then two coats of clear. May still use the 3' patriotic ones, but while I'm doing mods and putting the bike in the garage front first then back first, gonna leave the 2' ones on.

Here's the 3' Red, White, Blue ones:

Here's the grey mounted:

Here's the disconnect, I just noticed the chrome is peeling. Might sand them down and paint them with a rubberized paint:

Lastly

My 4 AMG Edition emblems came all the way from China ... LOL.

Not sure if the last one moved or it's an "Illusion" ... I'll check it out and fix it if it is crooked.
