Not sure if any of you have ever had an issue with your dealership raising the price $4000 from HD retail suggested price. I've been trying to negotiate for a 2019 Tri-Glide in custom color Scorched Orange. They raised the price $4000 because it's a popular color and in high demand.

First round, they low balled me on my trade in. Offered me $23000 for a 2017 Billet Silver/Black Tri-Glide. 15000 Miles. Excellent condition.

D-K Tour Pak relocation kit. Chrome Switch covers, Chrome Switch housing, Nice grips. 3M film on fenders, sides, ETC. Just had the 15000 Mi. service. Clutch recall done. 2nd round they came a little more, but not enough. Any way, about the 6th round, They offered my $28000. Better but no cigar. The bad part was, there was a guy sitting behind me buying the same trike. He eventually bought it. They tried to sell me a 2019

Tri-Glide in Twisted Cherry. Now this price was raised $2000 above the listed Harley Retail price. They offed me $32000 for my Trade-in. Because it was not a custom color, they gave me the higher trade price. Have anyone ever gone through this kind of negotiations? This is nuts. Went to another dealership, they had a Scorched Orange Trike for sale. They offered me 26815 for my trike. But at least they were selling at the HD retail price.

Sadly, anything you put on extra counts for nothing at a dealership when you trade. HOWEVER, when you are buying a used one from the dealer, they are quick to point out all the extras and tell you that's why they price it so high. To me, that's total craziness.

If I were you, I would do the math and see which dealership is going to cost you the least cash outlay, no matter what their sticker says.

Whenever i trade i try to take off all the extras that i can because most dealers will give you zero extra for them.Any dealership that was trying to sell me a bike above MSR would be in my rear view mirror.I looked at a 2019 and when i sat down with them they offered me $28,000 for my 17 with 10,000 miles on it.So for $7000 difference i can put a ton of upgrades on my 17 since it already has the lift kit,oil filter relocation kit, tour pac relocation,Love Jugs ect. All i need is a shock upgrade for about $900-1000 and i'm good to go.Bought the esp so i'm covered there, good luck in your search.

I traded a 2017 Blk and Silver Tri 1500 miles for a Silver and Orange Tri $6,800 out the door. Was good for me.

As soon as they priced a stock 2019 at $4,000 over MSRP I would have laughed at them and hit the door and went to another dealership.

My 2019 was priced over MSRP but that was because it had several dealer added options, like bumper, windshield chrome, speaker chrome, etc. However, you could add the retail price of these items up and that was what had been added to the sticker. They also priced mine and encouraged me to take off any and all options.

IMHO if you are trading a trike for a trike you will pay somewhere between $3,000 and $4,000 per year difference. Miles on the trade, location of dealership and time of year all will make a little difference.

So trading a 2016 for a 2019 the difference should be in the range of $9,000 to $12,000.

Trading a 2017 for a 2019 the difference should be in the range of $6,000 to $8,000.

The dealership I've been talking to just took over the dealership about 2 months ago. They have 4 dealerships in my area. Kind off stuck where I can go to. Some of the other dealerships don't have much for stock. The other dealership is about 30 miles up the river. They quoted me $13504 difference out the door. If it would have been

$6000 to $8000 difference, I might have jumped at it.

Just bought my first tri glide a 2014 with 34K miles but got a good deal on it

I cant trade with an HD dealer they offered me 8K on my 2015 FLHTP with only 2300 miles on it

Now I can keep BOTH, I'm happy

Probably better off selling it on the open market. Dealerships suck at giving what you and I think it's worth. Welcome to TrikeTalk.

Well I guess you got a good deal if you are trading, hope everything works out for you and congrats.

All for now Trampas

P.S need pics as soon as possible :D

Thanks James. Probably Tuesday at the earliest. That's when they open. I think I have a name for her already. Twisted Sister. The band, not my sister.

I almost traded my "NEW" old 2014 TG for a red and silver 2019 TG. Dealer gave me $22000 for it and deducted $1000 off the new one. I would have had to pay $17368 out the door for it. Plus another $5000+/- to bring it up to my old one. Decided not to - especially if I'm planning to retire in a few months. I have the new TG just the way I want it and it only had 786 miles on it when I bought it in August....so I still have a "NEW" bike. :)

Gary, I got this 2014 for 15800+tax because of the higher (34K) miles on it but I know I wouldn't have got a better deal on a Rushmore TG heck you can't even buy an 09 for that price. We'll enjoy it for a few years then see where we're at but I'm pretty sure I'll at least get my money back on a trade/sell at some future date. Sounds like you got a nice 2014 as well with no miles enjoy and ride safe! tg1.jpg

Dealers are tough negotiators, no question about that. In the end we pay the price if we want the toy, if not, we ride on with we have. As some have suggested, how many years some of us have left, maybe a new, or a new/used toy does not make sense. Depends on the finances and how we think.

Went to a dealer in west central Florida with a female friend (She was the interested buyer) during one of their Saturday

"parties" and she saw a red FreeWheeler she liked. She walked around it, looked at the storage (a lot in my opinion),

and a little while later a salesman, who I noticed was watching us, came over. Friendly guy. She asked him " How much?"

His answer, and I quote word for word........."upper thirties" . I said...."Let's go" Out side I told her why .

I really like that twisted cherry it's beautiful

Give us your thoughts on the ride with the M8 114

Since I've had a 2011, a 2017 and now a 2019 Tri-Glide. I think the 2019 is way better than the 17. More torque, Power. Transmission shift's so much quieter, smother. Neutral way easier to find. Suspension, I'm still trying to find that sweet spot. My wife and I have be riding every chance we get. Did some work on the trike that required to remove the seat. Found out that the shock's where set at the lowest setting, but was comfortable. With the weight of me and my wife, I had to set it up way higher. Much better than the air shocks. Really happy with it so far. Was at the dealership today for an HOG event. The bikes and trikes are selling like hotcakes. Tis the season to start buying. Jerry
