2019 Trike Lifting Blocks

It is raining here so I decided to make some lifting blocks to help when jacking up the axle as it is always a pain to get a jack in there to lift. I find using a scissors jack on the frame like is shown in the manual to lift the rear basically lifts the entire trike even when the front wheel is brake locked and tied down.

I made some blocks as shown below to fit over the tie down loops on the rear axle pinch block. The part of the pinch block with the loop looks to be welded to the axle and should provide a good support point for jacking. I have 2 floor jacks and will probably use both to lift the rear and then set the axle on jack stands. Used a couple of 6-inch 4x4 pieces and drilled out a slot 2 inches long 3/8 inches wide and 1 ¾ inches deep. Used a wood chisel to clean it out. They seem to work just fine.

Any input for any issue with using them to jack the trike would be appreciated. I do not think using these will damage anything. Thanks for looking.

Looks good to me, I made one out of a 2 x 4 but have never used it yet so I really don't know if it will work, had the 2 x 4 laying around, cut off a chunk and drilled the holes for it to fit the loop, have heard of the loop bending when using a floor jack so I thought of this, you went with a 4 x 4 which would work better and stronger, I haven't used mine yet so don't know if it will work, one of these days, LOL:D

Great idea. Thanks for posting with the pics. Went right out and made a set. Super easy and quick. Heck it took me longer to move stuff to get to my saved stack of leftover lumber and find the 4 x 4 I knew I had than it did to actually make them. This will work great.

Trike Lifting Blocks

I made the lifting blocks but found the base of my small jacks interfered with where I wanted to put my jack stands, so I ended up just putting blocks under the rear wheels. Did you do anything different? I think I might make ramps this off-season.

I like what you did. Did you center the opening or did you or off to side? Thanks

Side to Side they are centered. Front to rear they are a little forward to account for the length of the pinch block so they support it the entire length, hence the arrows and right left marking. I held the bock's up to the loop and tapped the bottom of them with a hammer to get a make on where the cutout would be.

Yep! 4X4 are always on the bottom... just sayin... I may make a pair of those also. Good thinking :Coffee:Travel safe Fred

I know this thread is old but I thought I would say my 2x4 worked good for me, I posted above saying I did this way before he posted this about using a 4x4 but have never used it to say it worked, now I am. I used my 2x4 to jack up the trike so I could put on my lift kit, I only made one 2x4 so I jack up one side and put jack stand under frame and then the other, work good for me.

Just thought I would update this since my 2x4 worked for me, granted a 4x4 would be even better, didn't have any at the time, may do this again since now I have some scrap 4x4's since a storm took out 30 feet of my wooden fence.

I made mine out of 2x4's back in2016 and have been using them ever since. There are several ways to jack the trike up and depending on what i'm doing this is just one way to do it. Floor jack on the rear most brace under the trunk and then place jackstands on the forward brace is another way of supporting the trike.
