I spent the last few evenings , reading through the trip report following the front wheel, that you posted in June 2016. I enjoyed it and my wife and I traveled to many of the same places starting the last week of June in 2016.i will be looking forward to more of your trip report.

Glad you enjoyed. There are a lot more Ride Reports at this LINK.

Looks like a beautiful place to visit! Enjoy!

Yes, it is...during the summer. Thank you!

Beautiful places Kevin & Mary, I don't remember if you guys eat mussels or not but PEI has some of the best.

Thanks! I don't, they'll kill me, but Mary does!

Day 2 Continued-

A look back...

92-back%20again.jpg

8 miles is a long way to go on a bridge...

93-water%20again.jpg

...very strange to think about how the sea beneath the bridge freezes in the winter!

94-diff%20perspec.jpg

8 miles pass fairly quickly, we decide to stop at the visitor center at the end of the bridge...

...after a look around, one last look at the bridge as we head out..

105-passing%20back%20under.jpg

...it's been over 12 hours since we left this morning, and we still have almost 2 hours of riding to get back to camp.

Another shadow pic as we ride through New Brunswick.

110-shadow%20pic.jpg

Gotta stop for gas again. In our very limited experience, we're liking the Iriving gas stations the best.

After about 30 minutes riding, we are back in Nova Scotia...

112-nova%20sign.jpg

...this really is some beautiful countryside!

Day 2 concluded in next post.

Day 2 Concluded-

This is a pretty cool pass...

116-bird%20on%20sign.jpg

...nothing like a mountain pass in Colorado...

117-road%20ahead.jpg

...but a nice ride, nevertheless.

118-hills%20and%20curves.jpg

I slowed down to about 50 mph as this deer ran in front of us, Mary caught a great pic.

119-deer.jpg

This is the fastest speed limit we've seen in Canada.

A look back as we...

...get closer to camp...

123-truro.jpg

...here we are, almost 14 hours since we left this morning. What a great day of riding!

Next we head up to Baddeck, our new base camp for the Cabot Trail and our trek to Newfoundland Island!

Here's a vid of us unloading and loading back up!

Kevin ... Some questions

1) It looks very cool there ... what are the temps like?

2) Any issues bringing your vehicles? Need permits?

3) I'm assuming you need a passport. Do you need Visas?

4) It looks fairly remote there ... any issues getting gas?

Lastly .. If you want to ride a long bridge ... do the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel ... Like 16 or so miles miles with an under water tunnel in the middle ... :AGGHH:

1) 50's at night, high 60's-low 70's for daytime highs

2) No permits, our regular insurance covers us in Canada. Can't take fruit and a few other things in or out of Canada. NO Firearms. We've had no issues the last few times going in and out of Canada.

That said, about 8 years ago, going into Canada, we had to completely empty out the Tri Glide and open everything up for them to look. They asked, well over a dozen times, if we had any firearms or ammunition. They were very polite, but it was a 1.5 hour deal.

Another time, coming back into the USA, we had a Border/Customs agent ask if we belonged to a Motorcycle Club, where we were going after we were in the USA, what our plans were, etc. Struck me as strange. We are US Citizens, had our passports, and did not see where any of that was any of his business. Only took 5 minutes, but was a strange series of questions.

3) We have passports, I do think you can get in and out with a NEXUS card, but a passport may be easier to get than that...not sure

4) Everywhere we've been gas stations have been plentiful in the towns...but, some do not have premium. It is possible to stay on country lanes and go a long time with no gas stations...lol

I had no idea about the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Gonna have to do that, maybe. Not sure I like the underwater thing.

Day 3-

Today we are headed up to Baddeck, Nova Scotia...

We get the TG unloaded, and then spend the rest of the day getting some work done, walking down to the lake, and having a relaxing day.

Tomorrow is a big day! Slated to ride the Cabot Trail, go to Mary Ann Falls, and meet Jerry, J. Carolyn & Dave for dinner in Baddeck!

Day 4-

We head out early this morning...

Kevin, now that you 2 have some travel miles on your new TriGlide, what's your overall opinion?

Going to be doing a full report soon. Some off the cuff thoughts, in addition to the report below-

The FB16's have fixed the passenger thigh thing with the grab handles.

I thought I had got lucky on no oil migration...but, nope. I'm going to have to do the vent. :(

New navigation is much better.

Still learning some of the new features on the infotainment. Everything seems to work better on this one.

Of course, I like the torque on the M8, have since the day they came out.

Kevin

  • Thanks
Reactions: MDO
I look forward to your report, but I'm sorry to hear you have the oil migration problem.

Damn bummer with the oil migration:mad:

Thanks guys...yeah, thought I had dodged that bullet, no such luck.

Good news is that everyone I've spoken with that has done the primary vent has had it resolve the issue for them.

In the meantime, until I get the vent done, I can periodically drain a bit from the primary and add a bit to the trans.

Another great adventure!! I love the ride around Cape Brenton and the Cabot Trail. I made that trip just 2 days after finally getting my trike. I took the ferry from Portland ME to Yarmouth and made the long drive up the east coast of NS to Beddeck. Spent two nights there while riding all day. Road back to NH via New Brunswick Canada, Maine....

Can't wait to go back after I retire!!!
