New 2020 Tri Glides

I don't like the colors, the stripes , the wheels , the seat , the foot boards . The sales man says you can change all that . What a let down . Tried to buy a 2020 black tri glide but my two trades are worth nothing to them 08 gl1800 csc kit lots of extras they offer $8000. 2010 tri flhxxx mint condition lots of extras $ 10000. Gave them 1 Finger and left Maybe buy another new GL 1800 F Harley That's my story

I hear ya.......went by my stealer and got the same response, gave me a fair price-on a 2019 but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for my 2010 FLHXXX!

I waved good-bye as I rode off on my perfectly good CUSTOM TRIKE!

:Dorag:

............ I even made a comment as to just how long Sturgis/Black Hills Rally will be around.

Based on what I saw or should say, didn't see, not very long. No bikes lined up to the interstate as in days of old. I could have rolled a bowling ball down Spearfish Canyon and not hit anything. The crowds just weren't there. Like you said, the snowflakes and millennials just can't cut it as certified scooter trash.

A good friend of mine, who has owned 3 Tri's talked to his dealer about trading his 2017 for a 2020, not the CVO. He has 50 K on his 17. He has had to have his tranny replaced, this is his second engine, all kind of oil leaks and suspension issues. Now the dealer wanted his bike and 20 grand! And that is after HE pays over $1000.00 because his fork tubes, springs and assorted parts need to be replaced. I asked him why he didn't talk to another local dealer and he said he has dealt with the others and they are all the same. He thought 20 grand was a bit excessive. Do others agree?

First the 2020 trike in the new teal blue is a nice color. It doesn’t take Picts well, the color flops or changes shades. I do not like when they put the decals under the clear coat paint. The CVO trike has been in the works for several years, but every year they attempt it, the boys upstairs kill it due to price point. This year they figured the trike guys (and gals) would spend it. I personally don’t think they will sell well. It’s a 2019 with new rims, new paint, bigger motor, electric locks and CVO stuff installed. They should of picked better colors and not the normal CVO of lately, and then reduce the chrome. I have a 2018 Anniversary that I did my own CVO styling on and it’s no where close to 50k.

Harley has it all figured out........Sell less, Charge more for what you do sell, Lay off 800 workers...So you can show more profit to your investors on the ones you do sell..And if someone questions the layoffs, Blame it on President Trump's tariffs.... ...

Sounds like a good business plan to me....;)....

You left out the veiled threat to the workers at both the Tomahawk engine facility and, the York assembly plant from the talking heads at the W Juneau Ave think tank in Milwaukee . Stating that if they the workers, didn't increase production in response to zip increase in pay, the talking heads in hqd death star were going to give serious thought to moving the operations South of the Rio Grande ......... :p

These two rides in these colors that are all saying just doesn't do it....they look nothing like this in person...the River Rock and black is my fav not to mention the Teal...The CVO is loaded to the max with CB also and just priced about $6500 above the other CVOs....Freewheeler in bright red is just beautiful...

I haven’t been able to see a teal tri, but river rock is great, a better pic of the color.

The new Teal color peaked my interest,so we got out to Indy yesterday to see if we could find a Teal Tri Glide but no luck. But one shop had a teal Street Glide and i have to say i really like the color. But my bike NADA at $25600 and the new one is $36,000 and change so i cant justify $ 11,000 for a new one since my 17 will be paid off next year. But to those who have traded up congrats,if i put good shocks on mine that will make a big difference, power wise its fine got my 02 Road King to put bigger stuff on,plus if i get tired of the black my neighbor owns a hot rod shop he told me yesterday to pick out a color and he will paint it just for the price of the paint so i have options.

I have done a little research I rebuild suspension, motor, and upgrade about everything there is and have a true custom trike for less than what it would cost me to trade. Of course ours is old so I guess I will just run what I brung..... Good luck on trading Fred

I thought the Tomahawk facility was the fiberglass/plastic facility. I didn't realize they make engines there now. When did that change take place? I have to get out of the cave more often.

Was at dealer Saturday since they had a open house and demo rides on the 2020 models, went there to look at the new CVO trike, no luck, didn't even have a regular triglide there for demo testing. Talked to 2 sale persons inside and they told me they are only getting 2 CVO's and they are both sold as soon as it was announced a CVO in the triglide. According to them each dealer is only getting 2 CVO's per dealership, they said it is a limited run, go figure. The 2 people that bought them one got the white and the other got the other color, it will be sitting on the showroom floor until spring whenever they get them in and it will be roped off so you can't get close to it, the guy didn't want it until spring and that is the gray/black/red whatever they call it, the white one is going to the guy as soon as they get it in.

So is this true about dealers only getting 2 CVO's per dealership or was it just hype, might check with your dealer and see what he says.

All for now Trampas

James I expect that what was stated is true. The CVO in whatever model has always been a limited production. Usually around 3 to 4k units. That can be divided by the different color options. So 2 per dealer one of each color option would not be surprising. The limited production means that the dealer will get MSRP or greater for each sale with no haggling. Production is also limited by the ability of the custom paint facility being able to paint them. Cvo's are all built at the plant without final paint. They are then sent to the CVO painter to get the special paints applied.

That has always been the case - outside paint - as far as I know. But in looking at the 2020 CVOs (not just the TG) and seeing postings on other forums the 2020 CVO paint just does not seem to be as spectacular as in the past. Inquiring minds wonder if H-D has taken the CVO paint in house. The paint schemes are all much simpler than in the past and well within H-D's capability.

I've been a CVO fanatic over the years and have had six of them. Yikes I've spend an ton of $$$$$ but enjoyed each and every one of them. But because they are so expensive they seem to take a bigger hit on price when selling or trading since they have to compete with non-CVO models which may have newer features and a factory warranty. I've said I've bought my last CVO but heck I've said that about the last four Harleys I've bought. So never say never I guess.

Matt Laidlaw said in one of his video's that his dealership will be lucky to 4 CVO's and his dealership is huge.

Like it was said in the post, they'll sell everyone and I'm sure the dealers will add to the MSRP.

Why-because they can-pure profit.

My son just bought a 2018 Anniversary special, not a trike, with 500 miles on it. When it was sold new the dealer put a premium of $10k on it.

I picked up my new 2019 TG the week that the new 2020's came out. The dealer here in Roanoke, VA said they were getting two of the CVO TG's initially, but he had been told they could get more. Also, the Harley dealers here in VA are usually willing to trade/sell/ship bikes between dealerships. You might want to see if another dealer has one?

We'll just have to wait and see about the availability of the CVO TGs. Like I said in my earlier post I've had six CVOs and never really had any problem in finding one. And on the CVO forums I frequent folks report lots of new 2019 and even 2018 CVOs at various dealers. Even though the CVO TG may be a limited edition with that price there will be a limited number of buyers imo.

Limited Edition.......AKA; Limited to as many as we can sell.....:D...If we sell the first batch 'We'll just pop out a few more from the factory...And maybe with different colors with the next batch..:D...

And there is nothing wrong with doing that..

I would love to have a CVO trike, but $50K+ = no way in hell. I already have a TG so if I had that kind of discretionary funds - I'd buy another Vette. Plain and simple.

At those prices, you should be able to pick any color you wanted.

Have you price Vette's......I figured with the New Mid engine 20's coming out a leftover 19 might be doable...So i priced a few 65/70 +K average and as high as 90K.....And thats not out the door ....And if you don't like Black' Silver or White ....At least in my area you are out of luck.......

And how much money besides the trades?

No bullshit they said my two trikes & $4500. cash down my payment would be $449. a month for 72 months . I asked them if they ever get anybody to fall for that crap sales men says proudly of coarse . lady calls me the next day and asked how visit went told her my story she laughed , dealer called Tuesday and wants to revaluate the deal says he thinks he can make it work ? I to give them my two trikes & $8000. out the door ?
