Prayer Request

Arthritis???

The more I watch the little guy ... the more I'm convinced he is just suffering from the same arthritis that I do. When I first try to get him to go outside, he is shaky on his legs. After walking around a tad, he does get more solid and actually walks a little better.

Last evening when I took him out to do his business, I walked down the steps with him in my arms, put him on the ground and he wobbled a bit ... then took off towards his favorite spot. He did his business, and actually ran towards the steps. When he got to the steps, he hesitated until I caught up with him and when I got there, he ran up them. It was almost like he wanted to wait for me incase he had an issue.

He's not in great shape, but, I think with time and some work, he'll get a little stronger and be more like I remember him. In the mean time ... I'm gonna spend as much time as I can with him ... :D

The hits keep on coming

Welp ... wasn't sure I was gonna post about this ... but ... figured mom could use the prayers.

Most of you know that she "cracked" her hp (hairline fracture, but, painful), Well, Wednesday she complained about feeling "off" like maybe she was catching cold. She took some OTC cold meds and went to bed.

Yesterday she was complaining of heavy feeling in her chest and trouble breathing. I told her she could either go with me to see her doc, or, I'd call the ambulance and have her admitted (I have a medical POA). She opted to go with me. Her doc made us stop to get chest X-rays before seeing him. Of course, she as pneumonia, but, we caught it early and she's doing antibiotics and nebulizer treatments. I'm guessing immune system being low due to the hip, doc visits due to the hip (lots of sick people of there) ... and oh yea ... she is prone to pneumonia, as am I, and her pneumonia shot is 5 years out of date ... guess I need to get more involved in her health care.

Harley on the other hand is doing quit a bit better ... he is eating, drinking and actually playing ... he tire's easy, but he's 12 years old. I still need to help him up the steps, but he is processing ... He's on anti inflammatories and CBD Powder in his snacks ... So, proof that prayers work???? ... It is in my heart ... :D

Upate on my Buddy

He had a one week recheck today. Doc was not thrilled with his progress. He still thinks it may be arthritis, but we are gonna do a new "treatment".

Harley weighs 6# as of this morning. The plan is to do a dogs dose for 6#s for a week, them do a week of 5# dose, Then 4#, then 3#. His "Maintenance dose will be 3# size. We will continue with the CBD powder as he sees no down side and potential upsides of that.

If in a couple weeks, he's not improving, he will do some X-rays to ensure there is nothing that his exam missed. He is sure there's nothing, but, he is nothing if not thorough.

So ... aside from carrying him up and down the steps, giving him some meds, and some love ... I am pretty much bored out of my mind ... but ... he's given me lots of good times and more Love than I could ever ask for ... so ... I'll continue taking care of the little guy. :D .. Lord knows I love Him.

Never give up on mom or Harley. Get mom that P-Shot . I need another this year , will get it with the flue shot.

Harleys a cool light weight, at 12 they will slow down as arthritis does kick in. There are meds out there to help him. Carry him up n down stairs, you don’t want him to fall. Went thru it with the musketeers.

Prayers sent for both .

Okay ... so Mom is having a hard time with the front porch steps after her hip issues.

I did my best to fix them for her ... might help Harley some too ... and who knows ... maybe Alan in the future ... if this doesn't help ... I think a ramp is in my future ... :AGGHH:

So basically ... I took out the 3 steps with 7.5" rise and about 8" step depth and reconfigured them to 6 steps with a 4.5" rise and 10.5" steps. The last one is more like 3.5".

The Trex was starting to bow, so I also put a regular 2"x6" under each Trex piece. Trust me, these bad boys are stout ... just need to sand and paint them. Gonna d0 a coat of paint, then some sand ... when that dries, I'll paint another coat of paint to seal it. Should give it some traction in the snow.

So without further adieu, here' s the proof.

As you can tell, Alan isn't a carpenter ... :D

That should help both of them Fuzzy, good thinking.

Mom just tried them and likes them ... Harley, (Jillie ... the God Dog) and Annabelle (the 120# Rottweiler/Lab mix coward ... LOL) are okay with the "Grey" steps, but, all are afraid of the "Yellow" steps. I'm guessing when they have to go do their business, those steps won't be so scary.

Final Update?

Went to the ENT today. Told him my sad tale and he listened intently. I had almost no hope he could help.

He said he believed I had Sialoadenitis, basically one of my spit glands is infected. Who knew I had spit glands???

He did a scope (interesting procedure I’ve had done before and don’t wish to do again). He said I definitely had it. He put me on an antibiotic for 18 days and said if I’m still symptomatic, call and he’d schedule surgery to rotor router the feeder tubes to the mouth (my words, not his) that lead to the glands that are now at least better than half clogged. Who knew the little glands could produce about a quart a day, and we have two ... LOL. Apparently the glands don’t care and continue to produce if the tubes are clogged. At some point they get full enough and the pressure gets high enough to “flush” them. He said this accounts for the cyclic nature of my symptoms.

I’m hoping not to have to have more surgery. Although, that would make it an even 24, I think, hard to keep track. After the first dozen it’s like who cares???!

Anyway ... seem to be going down the right path now. I appreciate the prayers and thoughts. If you wouldn’t mind hang in there with me for a bit longer ... Arghhh ... I really don’t want to have surgery again. And I’m a great believer in prayer.!

Dang ... I am getting old ... put this update on the wrong prayer request ...

No worries, good positive thoughts are always helpful.

I hope the antibiotics do the job, but in my experience with sinus issues years ago, they have a hard time getting ti impacted areas like that and I would be prepared for the cleaning out procedure.

Good luck!
