I have been thinking about switching from a Freewheeler to a Ryker.

Has anyone else around here done this or even thought about it?

My thoughts are that the Ryker will fit my riding habits better than the Freewheeler. I do mostly suburban riding with some freeway/highway.

Anyway, I plan to test ride a Ryker tomorrow to see how it goes.

Let us know how the test ride works out my sons been looking to test ride one And the dealer that we do most of our business with gave up the Spyder Franchise but he still sells all the other Can-Am’s Four wheelers and side-by-side’s..?

I went from a TRIGLIde to A Spyder RT Limited and use it Hwy or street use.

Dont miss the TRI at All and the Spyder is a Cadillac in my book.

Sorry I did not update earlier. I got some bad vibes about the dealer and the way they are doing business so I called off the test ride.

I might be contacting another dealer. Still thinking about it.

90% of the pleasure of buying a Trike.....Is having a warm and fuzzy feeling about a dealer and the deal....Bad vibes about a dealer isn't good....

Yes, I intentionally brought back an old thread but last weekend I went through with the trade for a Ryker 900 (not Rally).

Different dealer, of course.

I am happy with it but there is one thing that is confusing. It's about the break in period.

The owner's manual clearly talks about the 200 mile break in period and mentions an inspection. But I don't see a list of what needs inspecting. Also, is there an oil change needed after this break in period?

Any experience out there?

Every bike / trike i ever had......It was a 1 thousand mile oil change and inspect all nuts and bolts And lug nuts for tightness and or missing ones ....Even with a Spyder i bought new in 2008..

This will probably get you in trouble but I would assume it is an all inclusive inspection with/without oil change.

I really don't know if it is different than the regular Spyder. It must be because I don't recall such an early scheduled maintenance being called for.

The recommended first inspection is at 3000 miles at owners expense, I have no idea what they are inspecting either. I figure the usual stuff, brakes, idle, fluids, loose bolts, wheel nuts & retaining pins (since there has been two recalls on that already) and who knows what else. The official Can Am 1st oil change is at 6000 miles. I think thats crazy high for a 1st oil change, I will be doing mine at 3000 miles.

I got the same impression from the owner's manual (6000 mi.) and agree that this seems high. 200 mi. seems low.

I hope the dealer service department knows.

He verified 1 year or 6000 miles. He also added that this seems high compared to 3000 miles for the Spyder.

Anyway, the 1 year will probably catch me before the 6000 miles.

I know this is an old thread and I am not sure what you are riding these days but can you talk of your experience going from the freewheeler to the ryker and maybe share what you have now. I currently have a ryker and am interested in selling it and getting a freewheeler or a spyder.
