Help me decide on "fender bras" for the new trike

FWIW I have the black bras on my Hannigan and I don't like them. I would much prefer the clear and if the film is the Expel brand

then it's the best there is. Actually self heals small chips. Besides, the lines of the bike are just so much cleaner and nicer without the vinyl bras IMO

Expel make a Clear Bra kit for Gold Wing CSC and is more than just the rear fenders?

Thanks,

Jim

Not sure about a pre made kit. My friend is in the business of wrapping cars with it, all the installations he does they cut on site from rolls and they do a great job. I'm going to have him wrap my new trike with clear and wrap my trailer with red film to match the trike.

My 14 Tri came with Expel clear bra installed (found the receipt in the tour pak ... installed 10/2019. Looks like new to this day. I had a small "dent" in the fender lower right where I'm guessing a small rock or big bug got it. Didn't touch the paint. I called Expel's number on the receipt to see if their lifetime warrantee extended to me. They said to give it a couple weeks to see if it "healed" itself. If it didn't, call them again and they would replace that fender's covering.

The stuff is amazing. It did "heal" the little dent. But, what I like most about it is that I know it's there and I can't hardly see it. Nobody notices it unless I point it out.

When I did the ceramic paint coating, I went right over it, just made it more shinny like the paint ... LOL. I did call Expel and McKey's 37 (makers of the ceramic) and both said it would work great, it did.

So basically, it comes down to what you like the look of best. I'm not gonna presume to know what's in your heart. But, since you asked for advice, I'll tell you what's in mine .... :D.

That's a gorgeous trike. The red poops. I wouldn't cover an inch of it. I think I would just put some ceramic paint sealer on it and call it a day. That stuff is amazing.

Here's an example. Your trike is not "weathered" like my truck was, but, it will give you an idea how good this stuff works (the ceramic).

Right side has the sealer, left side just cleaned.

Yeh I think for now I'm just going to leave the fender bra's off and run the clear film and see how it holds up. If in the future it starts looking bad I can install the bra's over it.

Question

Hello,

I'm thinking of adding the ground effects foot board to my trike. I have the same full length fender bra. The pic appears to show a gap between the floor board and the fender. Is that correct? Can the bra be removed without messing with the ground effects floor boards? I've seen other posts that indicate that it can be challenging.

Thanks!

The dealer had CSC install some type of clear vinyl on the painted surfaces that are likely to chip and this vinyl looks good now but I'm worried what it will look like after it starts getting beat up. I told my selling dealer I was interrested in a set of fender bras to protect the fenders and they said they are not needed with the "chip guard" installed. Well I went ahead and ordered a new set directly from CSC but I have yet to install them. Can't decide what to do??

The instructions that came with the bra's say they can be installed between the fender and running board OR just above the running board.

Heres a pic of my trike and a pic I found with the bra's installed...

I doesn’t look like anyone makes an actual clear bra kit for a 2019 Gold Wing/CSC Trike conversion, so it would have to be custom. Besides covering (protecting) the front of the rear fenders, is there any other vulnerable areas that I should have clear bra material installed i.e., front fender?/front fairing?/ground effect kit?/fender area behind rear wheel?

Thanks,

Jim

Not on my trike, the running boards are actually drilled and bolted to the lower fenders. If they left a "gap" there would be support for them and when I bought mine the dealer was standing on one with both feet,... me, I don't even want my boot to touch them.
