40k on rear universal?

Is 40,000 miles about the time rear universal has to be replaced? 2010 GL1800 2016 RS. Mine fell apart at 45,000 miles. How often do others have to replace theirs? :xzqxz:

I'm on approx 10,000 miles since I converted to 3 wheels (55,xxx miles total) I always grease up the spine before every season..NOT at all sure if that helps, but the grease zirks are there, so it must need lubing at some point...
