I made the mistake of showing my wife a FW with a fairing, now she wants one for hers.

I'd like to see some examples and configurations. Thanks.

Nice looking fairing.

Does adding the fairing change the level of steering? Making it harder like the tri glide?

If you get a fairing like Reckless XE without radio, steering effort is not changed. If you purchase a fairing loaded with radio and speakers, your steering requires a little more effort like the Tri Glide loaded with guages and a boom box.

I'm likely going to add a Reckless fairing to our Freewheeler.

I've had a loaded one (stereo, amp, 4 speakers) on my Heritage for years now and wouldn't ride without it.

I will say though likely I won't go with the stereo as I find that we just don't listen to the fairing stereo that much.

We recently decided for safety to go to full face helmets due to all the idiots driving out there and with the full face Shoei Neotec 2 helmets it's difficult to hear the music even with a 200W amplifier.

We now use our Sena headsets to listen to music which works much better.

That being said; adding fairing tunes after the fact would difficult so if in doubt and the money's there at least go with the stereo and speaker setup. (you can always add an amp later)

Reckless Faring a little too high for me

I just bought a 2017 Freewheeler with a reckless faring and I have a hard time seeing over it ( only 5'6") . I removed the 3 pouch on the windshield and going to by a light tinted windshield. I need to lower a bit more to be comfortable with it.

The faring is 1.5 inches above the headlight and sticks out 3 inches past the headlight and 2 inches above the handlebars. I am in the process of pulling in toward the bike 1/2 inch and lowering the fairing 1/2 inch . I estimate I will get it lowered about 1.5 - 2 inches. By adjusting the brackets on the forks , it also tilt the the faring back.

I will post pictures of the brackets that were modified when I am done. Before and after.

This will give you some idea of what my Reckless fairing looks like clearance wise. It only sticks out about one inch above and past the headlight.
