Is anyone using the HF motorcycle jack for the Goldwing CSC trike?

Gerald

I had a HF jack when mine was a two wheeler. It didn't look wide enough or strong enough for a trike. I took the $1000 I saved doing my own install, and bought a wire welder and made a lift table.

Trusted my Wide Glide(2 wheeler) to a Horrible Fright jack. Jack failed! Only because I was standing by the bike did it not fall over.

Don't know of any bike jack suitable to safely lift a trike!!!! There are a couple brands made for trikes but, for Harleys,

Table lift or ramps for most trikes.

DO NOT USE HF lift for a trike. Is not rated for that much weight. I've seen 2-3 pics of the HF lift bent in the middle. I think the HF lift is rated at 900#....tike will weigh out at 1200# or better. Plus you have to add side plates to make it wide enough thus adding more weight.

I have one of these

I took the extender off and I use it to lift either the front or rear, never the whole trike. I think it's rated at 1500#, but, I just don't trust it.

My theory with HF is/has been, if it's a tool I need once or twice, HF will do. If it's something I would havef used to make money, IE, swimming pools or minor repairs on friends bikes, I buy quality.

There are exceptions .. the plastic grabbers, when they have those for $1.99 I get like 4 or 5, their cheep and break, but, will save me bending over or getting on the ground to get something. The other exception is the $1.99 (on sale) screw drivers. These are the ones that have like 8 screwdrivers in one.

I have an Older HF Jack like this but Yellow I use on my Harley Trike.

I only lift the front or Back & then put Truck Jack Stands under it.

Wouldn't trust it to Hold the Trike or to lift the Whole Trike but works long enough to put the Stands under it.

I have a HF lift like the one pictured above. I used it successfully on my previous Can-Am Spyder RTL. But the Spyder weighed just a hair over 1000#s. I know my Goldwing/CSC trike is much heavier. I would not trust the HF lift to raise the entire trike. Maybe one end at a time.....? But I have a 2 ton floor jack that will do that and I feel more confident using it..... Jim

I just looked at my HF lift and it is rated for 1500#s max. Not enough margin for my comfort.

I have the red HF lift, rated 1500 lbs, I replaced all the ungraded metric bolts with grade 8 SAE bolts & nylock nuts, used it a couple times to raise my 1200 to put jack stands under saddle bag guards and front lower engine mounts for cleaning, never got under it with just the jack.

I paid like $99 for the jack (Larin I think) in about 1998, I forget what the bolts cost.

I forgot I even had it, never used on the trike or even thought about it seriously, I did consider making a wooden cradle for a C-6 with NP 205 transfer case to set atop the jack, I think it would handle that job well enough. I did use just the hydraulic jack with it's pedal a few times, pretty handy.

I have no idea what I'll use it for now.

I have a HF jack that has been used to lift several bikes over the years of riding. I now have a CSC Goldwing trike & use the same 7 year old HF jack to lift only the rear of trike high enough to place my 10" high wood blocks under rear tires to get under it to service it. No problems at all with jack

I just back mine up on my car ramps, no problem.
