It's not your DNA on the bike (I don't believe) ... it's markers that lead to a data base and the VIN ... the new owner can have the database updated ... at least that's how I understood what I read about this. It's nano technology, I don't understand all I know about it, but, I think that's how it works.

Yes..I realize it isn't human blood or tissue DNA. If the new buyer does nothing to update the data base.. then the “DNA” says it still belongs to the person who originally put it there.

If you have insurance for theft, you're not gettin that bike back. If they paid off on your loss it's now their bike. So you're doin it more for them than you. Course if it's more than 2 hours since it disappeared, well then it's probably scattered far and wide.

I also think this "DNA" data base is only for the insurance company, not law enforcement ... so when you report it stolen or change your insurance when you sell it, the insurance company will update the data base.

​If this turns out to work well other insurance companies will likely mimic it. Why wouldn't they be doing this with high value cars already?
