Anyone using the American Elite on your trike? I used them many years ago on 2. Since 16 have used Avon on the front. Curious how well it is on a trike & approx mileage .

I have the American Elite III on my 2015. Only have about 3k miles on it. But I like it so far. The trike handles good, no vibrations or any type of road noise coming from it. Jury is still out on mileage.

I ran that tire on 2 of my trikes & liked it. I don't remember the mileage. I have a 19" wheel on this trike & thought i would try the Avon everybody was talking about, i'll be going back to the elite when the time comes.

I have the AMERICAN ELITE MT90B16 front tire. Have about 3,500 mi on it with no problems. Switch over from the Avon to AMERICAN ELITE due to all the problems I read about the Avon tire. Next tire will be Michelin Commander II rear tire mounted in reverse. Have heard good things about this tire.

I used an American Elite a few years ago. I liked it. Then went to the Avon, liked it better.

But, now with the new Avon it is getting a pretty high # of complaints, so I was betwixt and between on getting another American Elite or a Michelin Commander II (which I have also run in the past and liked).

The Commander III is also getting a high # of complaints.

So I called up suppliers looking for an American Elite or a Commander II. Found the Commander II first, but would have been happy with the Elite.

Currently running the Avon. Went thru the stock tire at 8100 miles, ride mostly in the twisties, lol. About 4000 on the Avon only a minor complaint. Dealer mounted, told them to set it at 40 pounds, ride home was fantastic. Checked the pressure a week later 38 psi, pumped it up to 41 as per Avon, got the dreaded handle bar vibration. 38/39 no issues handles really well. Have to wait for the end of the season to see where I end up for mileage on the Avon.

I have this tire and love it. I have 18,000 miles with little evidence of wear. Handling is superb. It sticks like glue in the twisties and I ride hard in the curves. It does have a stiffer feel than stock but once you adjust, It is fine.

I believe my indie said they had the American Elite 4 in stock so I guess that's what will be on mine tomorrow. I'll report back after I ride it home.

My dealership installed an Dunlop American Elite front tire on my 2015 Tri Glide last week. I have looked all over the wheel and can not see any wheel weight for balancing the tire. Do the American Elites need balancing or not ? I have not had a chance to ride the bike so do not know if there is any vibration in the tire.

Have not ever seen a tire ,myself, that did not need balance. Maybe he put Dyna Beads in. I prefer them to "stuck on " wheel weights that come off. Call & ask if they put beads in .

Maybe check out the web site for American Elite. I remember someone told me the 3 & 4 were for sport bikes. Not sure.

Correction to my previous post above-

Well, last night I unwrapped the tire to get it ready for Mary to take this morning. It is an American Elite. Part # 4513-1089.

I asked Devin to get an American Elite or a Commander II. I thought for sure he told me he got a Commander II. But that is not what I have.

So it looks like I will be running the American Elite (rear tire reversed) for the next 15-20K miles.

Is that a rear tire Kevin ? Nevermind I just found it. I will try the front Elite. Then we can compare . I am still unsure of running a tire in reverse.

Bill, I have this on the front of my bike no complaints. Rides smooth as silk! Just not sure how much mileage I will get out of a front versus a rear tire. I guess I will find out when get back from 4000+ mile ride in May and see the depth.

Dunlop makes the American Elite which is suited for Harleys and the Elite 3 and Elite 4 which are suited more for sport touring and Goldwings. From what I've been told by a couple motorcycle parts vendors/suppliers what you want for your Harley is the American Elite.

Me too - unsure about running rear tire reversed. But I know many do so successfully. I'll be with Kevin and Nucseal in Texas next week and will definitely confer with them about the tire as I'll need one before long myself.
