2015 Freewheeler cruise amber light will come on but speed will not set so no green light. There are no codes showing. Have ran the cruise diagnostic with the buttons, amber light just stays amber never goes to green. Whats next????

Very strange indeed. Harley has had a fair share of these new handle bar switches, I hope your left switch pak is not going bad. Does everything else work OK including the clutch switch?

Yes sir everything seems to be in order except the cruise. I was already thinking about the switch pack.. I have already checked on switch which is costly for a switch. Would like to know for sure it is bad before I spend that money.

thanks for your knowledge, If i find out for sure I will let you know..

Check your fuses, especially the 5amp.

If all fuses are good, it sure seems like the switch is bad. If you do have to replace the switch pack, you can upgrade to illuminated ones for about 10-15% more.

cruise control

Latest on my cruise problem. My local indie spent over an hour this morning checking all he could and even had a new switch pack and put it on to check and nothing changed. Fuses good cleaned connection behind air cleaner nothing changed. Ign on push cruise and amber light comes on. Twist throttle forward and hold and amber light begins to blink green then amber etc. Tried same on another bike and green comes on and stays on until throttle released. What do you think twist grip sensor or something else.

Thanks in advance

Very strange for sure. What I have seen is when a sensor voltage gets out of parameters on these can bus systems it will set a DTC. It can have a code stored without a check engine light on, my 15 Freewheeler did that when the throttle by wire voltage was not correct.

Cruise

Anyone know what is indicated when I put ign on, push cruise on and then turn throttle forward and hold there then amber cruise light begins to blink green and amber as long as the throttle is held forward. Back to steady amber when throttle is released. Cruise will not set and all diagnostics have been tried and all else that has been suggested in this thread.

Thanks

I have no idea how to check for a signal, but it seems the speed sensor also comes into play. Mine will not set at 90mph or above. I probably shouldn't have posted this, but maybe it's something else to look for.

I believe that is how it is programed just like it will not set below 30 either.

Yeah, I wasn't implying that I had a problem. If there is a (factory set) minimum and maximum speed that will not allow the cruise control to set, then I was suggesting that maybe the OP's problem was related to the speed sensor's signal. Just a thought.

Did you run the diagnostic that Jack linked to? It test everything in the circuit. Watch the video and run it again. It tests your:

1. Cruise control switch

2. Clutch switch

3. Front brake switch

4. Rear brake switch.

5. Throttle switch.

These are what will keep your CC from working.

Thanks for suggestion but this has been done several times and nothing comes on except when throttle is twisted forward and held, then as stated before green light begins to flash.

You sure have a strange problem that seems to defy all the checks you have done

I wish I had a solution for you

When you find the solution let us know what it is so it can be shared with others

Best of luck to you
