What could it be?

IMO, it is too bad so many batteries are sealed now days

In the past it was fairly common to be able to test individual cells and see right away you had a problem

A Hydrometer test to check each cell, We also used a Sun Machine battery test station to check dead shorted cells, this took all of the guess work out of the equation;)

Yep guess you could circumvent the seal but since those days I can't help but think our water is cleaner now.

Seems these days every year there are inland floods and hurricanes trashing many vehicles that their fluids enter the water system. I had a 4 tooth bridge that was gold cast with porcelain face about 1965 that when I got around the stations charger when its on had me tasting metal. Happened every time I tended one being charged.

I do miss the odor of sulfur when the voltage regulator over chargers...And the theres the hydrogen gas.....That can and will go boom!....I blew one up when i was charging it and the alligator clip caused a spark ....Battery acid and lead plates all over the engine bay.....:gah:..

Had an old corsair that I needed to work on after work, jumped on it as soon as I got home.

Battery sat in the rear engine compartment, drivers side behind that quarterpannel.

The side I needed to work from, well I got something (tool) grounded and it blew up right under me.

Lucky for me the curve of the body I was laying on directed the force out away from me.

My eyes got misted though which I cleansed. Life is hard then you die.

Think I have extras like a cat, new engine in 76 3/4 ton Chevy van in winter time.

I finally got it back from Machine shop installed with snow falling in a 12x20 1 car garage.

Had the exhaust routed under the door with old carpet tubes.

Thought as soon as I fired it up they blew off which I didn't catch. I was adjusting lifters and breathing burnt oil getting it done. Got to feeling a little numb all over that concerned me as then I felt real thick not fat but solid thick.

Sat on the porch slowly taking deep breaths till my condition bettered.

Now you tell me..........Where were you in 1968.....

Preteen here on a 3.5 hp Rupp minibike in a bedroom community.

Where people had to drive to the city for work from gov subsidized homes being built there.

High and junior high was overloaded 6am high started and for me in junior high it was a noon start.

As well the towns sidewalks folded up at 5pm.

Got an update with that part fixed. But answered a few posts made on this phone and I need to get to a pc.

It's coming soon!
