I wanted to add a Custom Dynamics TKE Brake Light Flasher to my Freewheeler but the folks there said I would need to have LED brake lights installed as their flasher cannot handle the load from the stock bulbs and will burn out quickly.

I started pricing LED brake lights and decided to look for a less expensive approach.

I found that the Sylvania Zevo 3157R Red LED Super Bright’s are direct plug and play replacements for the stock bulb.

These can be found at Wal-Mart or online for around $12.00 for a pair.

People who know a lot more about these things than I do recommend using red LED’s as they show up brighter thru a red lens than if I using white LED’s.

NOTE – These LED bulbs are polarity sensitive so I suggest if you buy them you test them before putting the brake light lens cover back on. If it does not work turn the power back off and reverse it in the socket.

I was also told that it is best to leave them on for a minute or two so that the ECM learns that the lower current draw is not a burned out bulb and then causes a hyper flash and error code.

I did this and have had no problems.

These work very well and appear a bit brighter than the stock bulbs were.

The brake light flasher is on order and is a simple plug and play installation.

I have run those light bulbs on 3 Freewheelers and like them a lot

Those are the ones I run on the rear of my Tri-Glide...

Jack, did you have a "fast flash" with the turn signals ?? TIA

The hyper flash is normal until the BCM sees the correction you make by using the 4 way flashers for a minute or 2, then check for codes and clear any you have

The codes ( if detected will not come back) after clearing as your BCM now recognises the new bulbs and the difference in the voltage and amperage of the LED bulbs

Damn Wally World does not stock them here either, I went to Oriellys, I have a contact there that gives me discounts;)

One good thing there is if they do not have them in stock they can get them from their warehouse in the afternoon
