Like the title says I am seriously looking into having a 2021 GW DST CSC built over the winter. I currently ride a 2018 Harley CVO Limited. While my wife and I like the bike very much and it only has about 20,000 miles on it (darn you Covid) the paint color, Burgundy Cherry Sunglo Fade would be nearly impossible to match if I were to attempt to have it converted.

I know I don't want a Tri Glide with it's solid rear axle. Now I suppose I could buy a new HD Road Glide Limited (I really like the shark fairing better than the batwing) with a normal paint scheme and have it converted. The problem is I always want more. I would want to make the engine a stage 2 (about 115 hp and 130 tq). I would also want to add about $2000 into the stereo ( I might still have to do that to the GW) because I love my classic rock while riding. Add an upgraded front suspension, a new wind screen and a better seat and things are starting to get expensive (or maybe more expensive)

Anyway, the 2021 GW DCT having the DCT, heated seat, heated hand grips, adjustable wind screen and more power than a stock 114 HD seems like it might be a better starting point. ( I am going to Harley hell for even thinking that, aren't I?) I am hoping to stop at dealer next weekend to take a close look and maybe even a test ride. With any luck maybe I will get wife excited. (It was her idea to go to trike in the first place.)

So here is my question to all you folks with your CSC trikes. If you were about to it over again what would do differently? What accessory was a waste of money, which do you wish you would have gotten? How would you make it better if you were to do it again?

Thanks,

I have the aux. fuel tank in my cSc trike giving me a total 10 gallons of fuel. If available on your newer bike I highly recommend it. I am very happy with my cSc. Even though I bought it used, the people as cSc have been very helpful and responsive when I contacted them a couple of times with questions. Nothing but good thoughts about cSc..... Good luck ..... Jim

I have never needed the use of a spare fuel tank on my trike......... (unless you ride where gas stations r far and few apart) just the thought of carrying around another 30-50 LBS of weight on your bike, all the time.. Seems like a waste of fuel to carry that weight around everyday....... and I have never been even close to running out of fuel on my main tank.. in all my years of riding a bike or trike....

I never need'ed an emergency brake either (just keep in 1st gear when stopped or parked...

I also never needed the automatic air lever'rrr that I did order (waste of money for me, cause in all these years I have never even heard it start)

Just a few idea's of what you don't need to order............ Just trying to save you some money here..........

Ronnie

We like ours

We really like our CSC Trike and would go that route again if we were to buy a newer bike and have it triked.

We have the aux. gas tank and like it.

CSC has 5 year warranty too!

I've been in situations where I was wondering if I could make the next gas station. So even though I did make it,it took all the joy out of the ride. I would always go with the extra capacity tank. I've heard people say well I have to stop to pee anyway. Really? I can stop and piss on the side of the road basically anytime. Getting gas is whole different story.

I'm in the process of planning out my CSC build for next spring.........on a 2022 Goldwing.

The Aux fuel tank is the first thing I checked that I wanted, MPGs drop way to much and cut severely into the range.

CSC has a nice setup with no pumps or electrical BS, just fill the main tank and it fills the spare tank automatically.

Stock bike is too short on range to begin with, don't want it any less with a trike kit.......this should give additional range over stock.

I also do not have the parking brake. It is a rather pricy option. There are times when I think I would like it but mostly I don't miss having one.

Expect to loose about 15% fuel range after triking your bike. The addition of the 3+ gallons in an aux. tank gives you that back plus a bit more. cSc has a great system that is well explained on their web site. The only down side to the aux. tank is you will spend an extra minute or two at the pump filling due to the slower gravity fill of the extra tank..... Jim

The cable on my 2015 Freewheeler broke a few days before I left for Eureka Springs. My dealer didn't have one, but the tech did tell me that it would roll away if I didn't park in gear.

I told him I had never allowed a 2 wheeler to roll off and leave me.

CSC Trike - Harley

Like the OP, I am looking to go with a CSC trike. Currently have a 2021 Harley ultra.

We considered the TriGlide and even looks at the CVO. My concern was that the bike was not raked enough.

Use to have a Motortrike with a 6 deg rake and it was fine. That was on our Gold Wing. Like you, I was a bit concerned - so, we have decided to convert our Harley to CSC.

Just finished talking to the guy - we will make our deposit on Sunday and he will order. Said the trike should be done by late March - plenty of time for riding season.

We added a lot of things - did not add the parking brake - he said it really was not needed - just leave in gear.

Wife ad I are pumped t be back on a trike again.

So, consider converting your Harley - would be less than buying a new GW, unless you want the auto

As much as I love my Harley and really like my Tri Glide, I test rode a GW DCT with the CSC trike kit and the guy asked me at the Test ride what I thought of it, he knows me and knows I have 2 HD. I told him I was very impressed. I think though with the upgrade rear suspension on my TG makes it very rideable… I think with the extra rake it would be even better.

5 months to get it triked??

We have talked on the Harley site - glad you like the TG. I agree with you, the extra rake will go a long way. I did ask my dealer how much the TG was raked - and he said, very little.

Still think the CSC will look nice on my Harley - so, that's the plan for now

I bought a brand new 2019 Goldwing DCT last December, figuring when Covid subsided things would get crazy. I've owned 10 Wings and like this the best. I can tell you what I did. The first thing was to add a F4 Custom windshield. The stock is way too small. Added a luggage rack and foot pegs. Spent 16 bucks and got my Sirius XM working instead o buying the antenna from Honda and paying to have them install it. ( They now consider it stock in the 2021) I added a backrest, Utopia for sure, and put vinyl on my fenders and ground effects.

The 7 speed DCT is great. Figuring out all the bells and whistles are another story. Thank God for Youtube. Changing oil is a challenge with the paper tranny filter. This is my second CSC kit. Mileage is great. My only complaint is needing to crawl under the bike and adjust the parking brake so often. The cable stretches and that is a pain. Folks at CSC have always been helpful, just like Hannigan was. Hope this helps a little. Almost forgot, I bought set backs for my handlebars. Great improvement

Wonder why the parking brake has to be adjusted so often.

My trike should be ready by the end of March - decided I did not need the parking brake. Did noy have one on my previous Gold Wing - use to leave the trike in reverse.

Think I will leave my new trike in gear or, carry a wheel stop

The DCT will be in neutral when turned off, not able to put into gear to keep from rolling. I keep parking brake adjusted and carry a velcro strap to wrap around the front brake lever if needed.
