Alec Baldwin debacle

And theres the live hand-grenade range.....And a few times someone would drop it while pulling the pin out and the instructor would have to kick it into the chute to the blast box...

Some Marys as soon as they pulled the pin would panic and drop it...Also i would love to see anyone even John Wayne pull a pin out on a real grenade with their teeth...Ain't happing....

I have the feeling it won't end well, the person responsible for safe keeping of the weapons will be blamed, as well as the person who assumed the gun was 'Cold' and handed it off and the dumb actor for assuming it wasn't loaded. Why were the cast members bringing live ammo and shooting cans? Someone is going to get bit on the @$$ for this. This is from the news: https://www.krqe.com/news/new-mexic...dditional-information-in-fatal-rust-shooting/

The Armorer should have checked and cleared all guns after lunch right?

How does a real gun with live ammo even make its way into the prop area?

I do not put much trust in conspiracies, BUT Mr Baldwin is not very well liked so did someone set him up? HMMMMMMMM

Using your question, did someone set him up. Mr Baldwin broke a couple major rules for gun safety.1st NEVER point a gun at anyone unless you are prepared to shoot them. 2nd Always check the gun even if someone tells you its not loaded, so there are many questions to be answered. My heart goes out to the family of the lady who was killed ,but I have no compassion for Mr Baldwin .

On this forum, one would have to work at it. I'm sure there is a lot I've missed as I have trouble logging in to the jungle. It's easier when it's kept in the general section.

And then there's the one real idiot who takes a live round into the barracks for a souvenir.

It wasn't exactly for a souvenir, but a lot of the 'missile security' guys pocketed live rounds at the range. Many a night we'd get sent out to check out an inner zone security alarm 2, maybe 3 in the morning and there's some critter that's slipped between the gate post and the fence post setting off an alarm. You can try to chase the critter back out the (open) gate, but rarely does that work. We'd almost always have to shoot them to get them to stop setting off the alarms. And you have to return the same number of rounds you were issued when you checked out your weapon or there's a problem of explaining where that round went. So, nobody got a perfect score that the range.

When i pulled Sargent of the Guard [Stateside]....The only sentries that i had to issue live rounds to were the PX...Motor pool ...And the Ammo dump..They carried the 45, And only 7 rounds each...21 total ...And a few times when i collected the rounds it would be short...And my Lieutenant told me he didn't care.. All He said was i gave you 21 rounds by hook or crook i want 21 back...So i would jump in a jeep run to the ammo dump and commandeer...What ever i needed to keep things quiet...

Baldwin as a producer and actor failed to follow industry standards with the weapon as did all who handled the weapon and said it was clear old a cold gun

A low budget movie behind of schedule and union members walking off the set did not help this disaster

No live ammo on a set is also supposed to be a industry standard

Like life its self ...Whats supposed to be doesn't always happen to be...Thats called Complacency..... I haven't heard anything about this, But just thinking out loud here i wonder if theres any Alcohol on the set during lunch breaks The stagehands were shooting/plunking at cans in the desert ......

Fox did report there was drinking the night before while they were shooting @ cans and bottles, also one report said they had been shooting during lunch break the day of the shooting fatality so the gun being used could not have been cleared by the armorer, the assistant director nor Baldwin himself as per industry standards

Baldwin is toast, and he should be. Firearm safety cannot be delegated, period. Even in the movie industry where there are (supposed to be) others who check props for safety, the final responsibility rests on the guy pulling the trigger. Others may be charged with negligence and suffer a career ending event. But there is no defense for pointing a gun at another person and pulling the trigger without first personally checking the status of the weapon.

I will bet my next SS check that Baldwin will blame others and will not take responsibility for his actions...... Jim
