Its time for a new front tire, now I don't have the stock Tri Glide front wheel I have Freewheeler wheels on so my front is a 130/60/19. Other than the factory Dunlop any suggestions Metzeler ,Michelin ? I have a brand new Avon trike tire on the stock 16 front rim and it has a buzz in it that can be felt in the handlebars, even had it replaced and the same thing. And I even had new wheel bearings installed and rebalanced.

I just installed a new American Elite on the FLRT. I have a Nomar machine and also changed the bearings- something I do each tire change given the state of the crummy bearings these days.My '76 FXE still has its original bearings and its turned the clock. The AE is my standard by which I judge all others. Not saying its the best- just one thats never given me problems.

Hey Steve, I also had an American Elite installed on the 16 & it was so new I had it switched to the 20. Quite a few miles on it & it has performed well. I used those years ago on my 2 wheeler & they were very good tires. I don't know know if Avon has corrected their "buzz" a lot of people had with that tire. Avon had a terrific front tire till then. Not sure now as it seems a lot quit using them.

Let us know what you decide. I will prob need a replacement this year also.

I had the Avon Cobra Chrome Trike specific front tire on my 2018 TG for about 12k and really like it. No problem at all with vibration or buzz. But when it came time for a new front tire on my 2020 I shied away from another Avon due to all the negative comments. Darn shame and no idea what changed to cause this. And I'm also hearing / reading of issues with the newer Mich Commander IIIs. Ran the IIs on several of my two wheelers and like them but again shy about the IIIs.

Anyway I also went with the Dunlop American Elite - a front tire, not a rear tire mounted in reverse. May try that next time.

Good luck on whatever you choose and order it in plenty of time since there have been and may be delays.

Called a Indy shop today asking about a front tire, was told they have 3 of the Dunlops in 130/60/19 in stock. But they have the stock 16 inch front tires on order and the tentative deliver date was May 28th, glad I put the 19 inch front wheel on.

I just put on a Shinko Super Classic 270 tire and love it.

My trike came with a Michelin Pilot Active rear running backwards on the front when I purchased it. Mileage on the tire was unknown but I put 18,000 miles on it. My dealer, who I trust, said they have had problems with cupping on that tire. Mine was pretty well cupped when I bought it but the cupping seemed to smooth out a little as it got worn down.

I was inclined to replace with an Avon trike specific front tire but they are not available at this time. My dealer strongly recommended a Michelin Commander 111. Dealer is a trike dealer and manufacturer (Champion of Arizona) so I went with their suggestion. So far so good. The bike feels a little more cushy. I think the MPA rear on the front was stiffer and gave a harsher ride. Time will tell as far as longevity..... Jim

Called them today $200 now Amer Elite installed & balanced

My tire is a130/60/19 the 16 inch may be a little more. they told me 200 when i called but only charged my 180 once i got there. They put a couple small marks on my rim that I polished out so make sure you check it before you take it home.

I got 12,500 on the Avon91 trike tire, probably had a few thousand more left, but going on a trip so on went the America Elite rear, reverse mounted, $250 installed out the door. Only have 60 miles on it, so far it handles ok, seems to be a little more sensitive to the crown in the center of the lane, but it’s early yet, running 40psi.

My Avon 91 had the vibration when it was pumped up to 40-42psi. At 38-39psi it was smooth, vibration free.
