oil screw up

But now I have an external oil cooler that is mounted about one foot higher then the oil output hose from the eng going up to the external oil cooler. Started to wonder when I turn the engine off and the pump stops , will th oil in the cooler drain back into engine????[/FONT]

The Oil filter doesn’t hold that much oil to begin with so I wouldn’t worry about it and besides, I never fill my crankcases up to the very top., I always leave it about a quarter to half quart lower than the full mark.

Perhaps you could install an anti drain back check valve in the line

Turbo charged engines use them to keep oil in the turbo

Jack's got a good idea there, check valve in line would work, it would keep the oil from drain'n back

Most oil filters already have a drain back check valve in them… It’s been in most premium filters for years?
