Kenny, this is a common problem on the TriGlides.

Try this: Press down on your rear brake pedal and listen to see if you hear the pawl "click" (clicks when engaged and also again when released). If you dont, press it down till firm, then slide your foot off the pedal and let it pop up. Do that several times and that will sometimes release the park brake. If it doesn't, you may have a bent/binding or broken pawl spring.(#7 on diagram) Visually inspect it and if you find that it damaged or broken, replace it.

^^^ This ^^^!

I’ve had to do this trick occasionally if I accidentally ”baby it” when setting or releasing it initially.

Let that parking brake pedal “fly” on release!

Lube all the moving parts including adjuster and all cables

Grab the rear cable and give it a tug, is it tight? If so make changes to the adjustment and try again

I kinda figured.
Just read this post Lad. Its part # 16 - looks like a cable with a blunt end. Theres a magnet in the stamped pedal. The gap between the two should be: 0.177- 0.197(4.5-5mm) disconnect sensor connector, loosen jamnut, turn sensor to adjust gap. Tighten jamnut 30-35 in.-lbs. Reconnect sensor connector. BTW the upstream side of the connector is where I tapped into to install a led lamp in the handlebar nacelle for the parking brake. The Dakota Digital MLX speedo dosnt support the parking brake lamp functon in 17- early 18 Freewheeler .
