Harley WHIM plus Sena 30 headsets

Need help guys! Had my Tri Glide fitted with a WHIM at the last service so my Sat Nav / Boombox can talk to me. Wasn’t able to get out with the wife prior to our trip to SW France and so I now find that YES the Sat Nav talks to my headset and gives nice clear instructions BUT while my wife can talk to me via our Sena 30 sets I cannot talk to her!

If I pair up the headsets PRIOR to switching on the bike and use the Mesh connection we can talk to each other fine. However as soon as the boombox is powered up it seems to switch off the mesh connection! Nothing I have tried works. My Sena sets are NOT the Harley Branded items. Have any members had the same and found an answer? I am now “worried” I will have to fork out for Garley branded headsets…….

TIA

Bob

Here lies your issue. The WHIM will only work properly with the Harley branded Sena’s. It’s some proprietary BS setup by Harley. I’ve seen this same complaint many times with the same answer I’m giving you. That’s why I just use my phone for Nav connected to my Sena 20s EVO’s. My wife listens to her music through her phone and I listen to mine likewise and we can still talk when needed. I do have the Nav up on the BOOM just as a double check and it’s easier to see sometimes than my phone, but that’s it.

Harley WHIM Sena 30 issue….,

Many thanks for your reply - appreciated! Is this the point where I swear profusely and curse the beast of avarice that is Harley Davidson?????!

To say I am “hacked off” is an understatement! But can I ask one more question please? As my wife can currently talk to me, would it be enough to buy ONE HD headset for me or do I need to buy a pair?

Once again, TIA

Bob

Before you buy anything, please looks for some more responses. As I understand, the SENA will indeed work with the WHIM - the only difference is that you will not get stereo sound.

I might start by making sure you check your setting and that both the rider and passenger headset and engaged in the boom box.

I have a Sena 20s (non HD) wireless, it works with the whim module on my `22 Tri Glide.

I use it for CB radio with the group I ride with.

It does not get stereo sound from the radio but does get sound in both speakers (I don`t listen to radio or music while riding).

I don`t use intercom so I know nothing about that.

I have the HD Sena 20s for myself and wife. Everything works as expected. But believe it or not issues still pop up once in a while and you have to reboot. I read/heard that there is a boom box hack out there where you can get the Boom box to recognize the non HD Sena 20s where everything works (even apple play) but not stereo in the headsets. The only benifits I gained from buying the HD branded Sena 20s was the navigation sound and Apple play. Which I think it is easier to use your iphone for map navigation, mainly because it gives way better detailed voice instructions. I'm always going back and forth between the 2 for the last 2 years wasting my time figuring out which one I like better. Oh well!

Harley WHIM and Sena 30K

After a bit more internet researching, I managed to get my Sena 30K working on the last day of our recent tour of Southern France which made the ride more enjoyable. Might look at upgrading to Harley branded headsets to release more functionality but thats for later…..

So glad you continued to research the matter and get it working. Also, thanks for letting us know
