Hi Due to increasing disability I want to automate the clutch on my 1300 vw trike. I've looked at electronic and vacuum methods but I dont really understand how I can still have clutch control. The front end is very light and lifts easily if I can't control the clutch engaging. I can still use the pedal but it needs to be lots lighter than at present. I could also have a hand lever. If it's possible I need to have the full list of parts and some instruction. I am mechanically savvy but am slow to manoeuvre to certain jobs. Please help.

VW Clutch

Hi and welcome to trike talk from California and a thinker outside the box... You said:

"I could also have a hand lever. If it's possible I need to have the full list of parts and some
instruction " I found this on eBay, Motorcycle Hyd. Clutch Kit.jpgBUT I do not know if it will have enough pull/push in pounds? and distance? I used pedals (Empi) clutch slave, in my VW build. I hope someone else will add to the solution/problem...

There might be a hydraulic motorcycle lever with a large enough bore to have the displacement to work a VW clutch

But

The lever pull will be extremely heavy. I have seen it done.

What you need is a power adder. Something such as a power brake booster....either a vacuum power or probably better yet an electric one off some modern small car.

I doubt if any instructions/parts list/directions exist anywhere in the world. It will probably be all up to you to design and make the system (using some misc parts off multiple other things).

Good thing is it could be configured how you want it.....ie foot or hand.
