Harley sets them on the tight side IMO for better break in
 
Yes, The specs for trikes are tighter than for the 2 wheelers. Maybe because of less swingarm travel or longer swingarm. I run mine at the big end of the spec.
 
I friend who was a lead tech at a dealership ( passed away 3 years ago) told me that he leaves the belts on trikes on the tight side as delivered off the truck when doing the P.D.I. Said there were forces on a trike belt unlike a two wheeler. I keep mine tight and disregard the FSM. Don't do hole shots or wheelies and your belt will last a long time,100k.
