Cartridge front forks

Ok I have a 2002 FLHR and I am wanting to install a lowering kit in the front end , does anyone know for sure whether the left fork is a cartridge type or typical spring type. I have looked at the manual and it doesnt really say for sure. Also if it is a cartridge type can I convert it over without replacing the lower leg? When I looked up lowering kits in Dennis Kirk it says yes to the spring type.

Steve, I am pretty sure only the fairing models used a cartridge, reasoning is those front ends are heavier
