As I researched hitches for my 2014 Tri Glide I came across 4 or 5 companies making hitches…

First, I want to say that “at this time” I have no intentions of getting a trailer. However I do like the idea of a cargo rack to slide in for an extra piece of luggage or a cooler.

So, during my research, I found one company that makes really nice hitches but it’s not a “receiver style” hitch that sticks straight out the back, but rather points downward. (I Definitely do not like that idea and even question the strength of this hitch head tongue weight).

One company called “USA Trailer Store” looks exactly like another company brand (that starts with the letter “R”). It’s a receiver style, and it’s the cheapest priced one out there. To be honest, I almost bought it!

I was just worried about cheap price = cheap quality.

The next brand that many have mentioned (starts with the letter “R)

I gave them a call because I still had my tech question I had left unanswered.

I got a very nice salesman that answered my call, and before I had a chance to even get my main tech question asked, I was subject to 100 reasons to buy only their products, that they are the best, the owner started the business in a barn, how Harley got sued for turning down any warranty work if a hitch is on their trike/bike, the M/M act that protects the consumer with aftermarket parts installed on their vehicles, patent infringement of the USA trailer store stealing their look of the hitch, …. And on & on & on & on…. I was hearing the “typical used car salesman” trying so hard to sell you a product, I literally wanted to throw up in my mouth!!!!

When the conversation was over, I was so turned off from that conversation, and all the bragging made me not even want the product, no matter the quality, nor the price… it was a complete turn off.

So that leads me to BUSHTEC. They are the most expensive once you have to purchase separately the slide in hitch head. I purchased it on a Tuesday and had it Friday…. And installed it yesterday.

For more money, Quality is top notch with BUSHTEC and will say that I’m glad I bought it!!

I want to thank all who responded to a previous thread I made as the information did indeed help and wanted to share my experience.

I am going to post this exact thread on the HD Forum, as some are not members on here.

Here’s the video link (and also some info about the original tech question that I had about the “ballast bar” that is at the rear of ALL of our trikes)!

Well done video. It does look like a high quality hitch although I’m not in the market for one.

Thank you, Steve!

Honestly, I wasn’t either! lol!

This was merely a “do it now, just in case” idea.

We just got our first trike this past September and the wife already is claiming 98% of the usable storage it has for some weekend trips! Lol!

I’m just thinking ahead while it’s in this stage of transformation.

….To be honest, I hope I’ll never have to use it!

If I do, I’m ok with just a slide in cargo carrier. (I truthfully have no plans whatsoever on a pull behind trailer).

I have the on from USA trailers it is made good and was a good fit. For the price I am very happy with it. Yours does look to be very well made.

One tip for installing a hitch to a bike: Once the hitch is installed and you're running the wiring for the lights to the hitch, be absolutely sure to attach the wiring to the side or top , NOT!!! the bottom of the hitch. You're way less likely to pinch the wiring between the hitch and an immovable object. Guess how I know.
