New guy here.....

Just plunked down the deposit on the very first '12 TriGlide to arrive in the state. It's due in on 14 July. Got rid of my last scoots when the military transferred us from Texas/Oklahoma to the northeast over 20 years ago. Time to get back to riding.

Mrs McStrat wanted a trike, and didn't want to be talked out of it. The TG was ordered yesterday.
Am I doing it right?
They said it would be a two-tone Cherry Red Sunglo/Merlot Sunglo - both with metal flake. The only color scheme I saw like it was on a '11 Ultra, and it looked way too "red" for me, as the merlot sunglo was used sparingly in the underneath paint areas.

I am not sure what this scheme will look like, but I know I didn't want just black. We are waiting to get a glimpse the color scheme, and hope they actually brought out more of the darker merlot color.

Congrats and welcome aboard. You will love your new trike

did you get the ext. warrenty?you'll have a nice looking VIN number too. Later a S&sS cam will really wake the motor up. (no more lugging it off the line. especially when tyou ride heavy ( 2 riders with lugage ) but first i hear the CAT is really a pain.my '09 tri-glide came w/o one.great bike. the front rt. vibration dampner bolt sheared off about 5k. & the casting broke off too. so i had to have a new head.If you put a oil cooler on it, you can use house water PEX tubeing clamps . just butter lube the male fiittngs on the oil cooler with sealant , slide the pex clamp the hose over the hose;then push the hose over the male fitting and sench down the pex ring down tightwith the ratchet styletool .

let it dry over night. looks great and never a leakage problem. on the oil filter end of the hoses i used the sealant, but used the existing wing clamps. i took off the knee knockers, not much storeage there & you want all the airflow you can to the engine. its just 3 adal clamps on each side. use the in cooler weather if desired.
just thinking out loud taylor. i wish the HMO company would let us get a 110 engine it a trike, but sadly no.if you want to upgrade the brakes to automotive style ie larger brake pads and rotors e-mail rogermoak@hotmail.com he's out of miss.and is helping me upgrade mine. because the rear brakes really suck. just my experience with the first year tri-glide.

Hawk - I'll be paying MSRP for a 2-tone TG plus a "set-up fee" of around $600 (I'm sure that's dealer padding), taxes, and freight. Retired military gets me $1000 to spend at the dealership and the first service free. I have heard of some other places with additional dealer mark-ups, so I felt I was at least not being raped too badly.

Haven't decided on the extended warranty as I normally don't pay for those on anything.

Eagle, Many thanks for your wisdom and advice. I have been lurking on this board a while, and am considering my "Harley tax" mods. I may order a full set-up from Jamie at FuelMoto that gets rid of the cat with new head pipes, mufflers, air cleaner, and map.

I appreciate the well-wishes, and look forward to learning much more from you experienced guys. Thanks.
Welcome Folks............................

Got the call from the dealership this morning: HD didn't ship the trike yesterday as promised. I asked when it was due to ship and be in the shop. The answer from the sales wonk contained the word "hope" two times.

I chuckled, and told him I don't run my life around "hope", and he simply needed to call me back when he had "facts".

I have a 600-mile ride planned for the first week of August, and need to get the bike broke in and do an initial service between now and then.

Here's "hoping".....
