Can someone please tell me the dates for the Maggie Valley rally next year? We were unable to attend this year due to a previous commitment and would like to be able to plan differently next year.
Thanks

We are expecting that it will again be the fourth weekend in June (as it has been the last two years). Please wait for confirmation of that --- we have very much outgrown our host motels and are negotiating for a different one. We need to confirm that they can work with us that particular weekend. We should have confirmation and an announcement posted in the next two weeks.

I think it would be nice to try a different location. That's the fun of seeing new places

We all know nana and zook are doing all possible for the 2012 rally and will no doubt have a location that will be simply wonderful ..... but ... for anybody wanting to go to a different location consider going to the ... western rally in 2012 also put on by Trike Talk , in Reno Nv on july 9 - 12, 2012.
more info listed in the rides and rally section under western rally.
Maybe you could plan to attend both rallies next year

I may be wrong but I believe the location will be the same just a different host hotel.

Also please take into consideration that WEELS THRU TIME MUSEUM is looking for a new location and might not be in Maggie Valley next year. P.S. Hey Tom how HOT is Reno Nv. in JULY and what are the hotel accomodations? :pepper:

the tempature in Reno should be around 75 to 85 degrees and the hotel is a 3 star , clean rooms , average food , 3 blocks off the main strip to the 5 star hotels and casinos

TTR-V 2012

Before we left, several staffers and I toured the area hotels and the only one in the entire MV/Cherokee area large enough to accommodate next years projected 300-500 of us in a single hotel is Harrahs Hotel Casino (1100 rooms) in Cherokee. We are getting best rate quotes from them and several others (next largest two have approx 90 rooms each) along with your input before deciding on a host hotel. In the end, we may still have to split between two/three/four hotels if we don't go with Harrahs, but the two we used this year (76 rooms between both) didn't come close to housing everyone this time, much less next year and the following years.

We'd really, really like to accommodate everyone in the same location so we can meet and get to know one another better, as that's the whole point of our rally, building lifelong friendships with one another and riding the beautiful mountain roads together.

As for a "one location" hotel, Harrahs is our only option unless we move to Ashville which is too far from our best ride routes. Pigeon Forge has a few larger hotels but the traffic and congestion there is a spoiler. Harrahs is an absolutely beautiful property and does have gambling which may be a turn off to some, but its in a separate building accessible via a skywalk out of site of non-gamblers. For those who do gamble, and I heard of quiet a few of you who did visit Harrahs during the rally, you'd be right there.

I'm not not a gambler but I obviously do enjoy good food and Harrahs has a fantastic mega buffet (6X4 ft long king crab bar + prime rib, etc) that is being moved and doubled in size and has five other restaurants on site, all very reasonably priced including a brand new "Paula Dean's Kitchen" so come rain or shine, we WILL eat good if we stay there...:D

It also has covered parking (no rain) with security for our trikes and I think we can reserve an large parking area be roped off just for our group. There are meeting rooms available for us with finger foods and a cash bar should we want to use it for meetings, awards, drawings, etc. The hotel sits right on the creek and has a beautiful large indoor/outdoor sitting area for us to assemble day or night to mingle, snack, drink, etc.

The staff was VERY friendly/professional and hosts many large groups year round and knows how to accommodate their guests in style.

I am hoping to negotiate a good rate rate similar to this years accommodations so we can keep it affordable for everyone.

I do know that Harrahs Rewards customers get special rates or even comped rooms right off the bat so if any of you are on this program you'll be ahead of the game if we do wind up staying there. If you're not a Harrahs Rewards member, you can go online and sign up in advance.

Please give me your feedback either here or via PM so we can move forward with our plans.

P.S.- Dale @ Wheels Through Time Museum confirmed that they will not be open in Maggie Valley next year, another consideration for us moving to a different host location.

Zook: Cherokee Casino hotel is a OK . VERY NICE PLACE, excellent food, free parking, good party place... Does Dale know where they will be at yet?

Charlie, the way he talks he'll be moving the museum out of the state and I sure hate it as hes been so good to us hosting our cookout location and visa versa. Every time I go through his place I see something I missed the time before. We'll sure miss him.

We spent a night at Harrah's on our way back south after riding up the Blue Ridge Parkway for a few days after the rally, and it really is a beautiful property. It's not the flashy, neony, glitzy stuff that some casino locations are known for, but very tastefully decorated and well-run. Our room was absolutely comfortable, huge, and beautiful--very calming in decor.

They're doing a good deal of expansion construction just now, and I think they will have even more to offer in the way of other things to do and see by next year. It even looks like they're doing some outdoor improvements to take advantage of the pretty creek that runs between the two buildings (one for the hotel, one for the casino). I noticed lots of nicely appointed seating areas in the hotel hallways, many with outside decks and pleasant mountain views. Even saw one guy fly-fishing in the creek! So there seem to be many possibilities for off-trike activities.

We were a bit underwhelmed by Paula Deen's--the food was average and the service was suh-lowwwww, but the buffet leaves very little to be desired. Plus there are plenty more places to eat in and around Cherokee.

BTW, we had one of those comped rooms for the night, and I don't think we could've asked for a better one. If you gamble at all (I don't, but the Chief does), throw down a few dollars at a Harrah's between now and next June and you might get one or more of your nights free, if Harrah's does end up being the host hotel next year.

Just my two cents!

We're good to go wherever there....it's the Friends, Roads, Scenery......Hmmmm, seems like I'm leavin' somethin' out.................................Oh yeah, the Food.....:10:

I'm all for a new venue. How about the Branson area or down Zook's way on the Gulf Coast? A change of scenery will keep interest peaked rather than losing interest by going back to the same old place.

Harrah's works for me! Only a hop-skip-and a jump from my old home place.
Love riding NC28, the BRP and the Dragon.

I vote for Cherokee!

Harrah's looks good to me. Have the rewards card already, don't visit often enough for it to mean squat to them. I am planning on going next year.:Biker:
As far as Western rally. Last time I rode through Reno area I ended up in town of Sparks (next town over) at a brand new (2009) Holiday Inn. If you wanted to move to other side of state, Vegas has some great casino hotel deals off the strip (and since my sister-in-law lives there I stand a chance of talking the wife into going there).:Joker3:

Nana, We were not able to make it this year due to our vacation already scheduled. We won't know about next year until probably next spring cause we won't know about Allen's vacation. Hope we can make it though. I really just want you to know that we appreciate all the hard work and planning that goes into this!

Thanks for the kind words, Reader1! Zook and I feel and appreciate all the support of our forum friends. The fun we all have together make the planning and work worth every minute :D
