I saw the thrad about the new CSC and the improved trunk hinges.
Is there an aftermarket retrofit hinge for the old style hinges on the CSC.
The old design really does limit the loading of the trunk and i would love to convert them to a more friendly hinge.

This is the only photo I have. Does yours open this much or more?

My 2006 trunk lid opens untill it is parallel to the ground. I don't like the way they stick into the cargo area. I am looking into designing some covers for them so when I load the trunk it will prevent me from putting items that interfere with them. Will also prevent items from shifting and causing them to be obstructed when trying to open them. From your pic my lid would open it looks like untill it almost laid on your rack.

I talked to CSC & they advised that there is no way to retro-fit with the new hinges. Tuff! It was sucha problem for me, I opted to add a cargo rack to the trailer hitch instead of trying to shove gear intpo that trunk. On long trips when I use the carrier, I use the trunk strictly for jackets, rain gear & tools. No option, I guess

Thanks for the research, 'fraid that was going to be the case -- just thinkin maybe there was an aftermarket fix. :Crap:

your hinges are different. Mine has slots in the center for the rollers to roll on. I wouldn't want it to drop down that much. However, a good machine shop could make some hinges some longer allowing the lid to drop farther down. that really wouldn't be that hard to do.

I couldn't see your hinges in your pic. Mine are 1 piece and no rollers. It is convenient that it opens that far. Otherwise I could never get my helmet in. But they extend into the trunk quite a ways. That I do not like!!

Wonder if a good body shop could replace the 'c' hinges with 2 different ones attaching to the outer body? Would have to re-enforce the body where the hinges attach, I suppose. Maybe not worth the effort, but would sure be nice!

I have plenty of room to get my helmet in the trunk.
I keep my rain gear in the back corners. I also have a bag that fits between the 2 hinges and allows me to use my goldwing saddle bag liners. I lay them down. I just do not fill the ends so they can fold up.
I will get a better photo tomorrow since the trike is back home.
