Another New Triker from Maryland - USA

:wave4:Welcome from SE Tennessee! I rode my own 2010 SG Trike for 14 months. Bought it new with 7 miles on it and when we traded it and Ron's RK in on our new Triglide it had just under 20,000 miles. I love riding and will for sure get my share of the driving when Ron and I get out on the road again. At the present I am recouping from some surgery and will be ready to ride by 1st of Sept. It is amazing how beautiful these trikes are and how wonderful they handle. There is all this fuss about heat. Well let me say that the Capt'n Itch Crotch Cooler and a few minor improvements will correct that unless all you do is sit on a city street riding stop light to stop light. We ride very little in city stop/go traffic. Some times you can't miss it, but as a rule our riding is in the mtns and twisties. We are riding motorcycles, not luxury cars. You will love this forum and will get as many different answers to your questions as you have people that answer them. Everyone can't be pleased with one remedy. If they could, many business would go out of business! A friend knows a young man, 29 years old, that just bought a new trike. He asked him why he went to a trike and his answer was "because I got tired putting my feet down"! No age limit on trikes...young, old and in between! Ride safe....

Hi TNTriker! Thank you so much for your welcome to the site. 20k in 14 mos. I want your JOB!!!:Bow Down: Hope you are feeling better. If that's your idea of minor I'd hate to see the bill for major........ Thanks for your words of encouragement, and especially for the slightest insinuation I may not be old, or maybe you were just throwin' that out there for the real youngsters :D
Rob

Welcome M.A.T., I hope you enjoy your new trike! I am new to trikes also, got mine last month and love it. I'll be at Ocean City Md. rally also. Hope to run into you there! Welcome aboard!!! Viper!!!

VIPER, first, what a cool nickname! ThumbUp Thanks for the welcome. Heck yea, what's not to love! Cool, we will be there all week so be on the lookout for a overweight old guy acting like a child (hey wait, so far that's about 50% of the bikers down there) wearing sleeveless t shirts (another 10%), camo shorts and jungle boots.......shoot never mind maybe I should just tell you my tag number......

WELCOME to TRIKE TALK.....Yep, Lots of INFO here, and Wizard and Bob Witte are really good sources for it.....ThumbUp

skuuter, sorry, let me get this out :HaHa:

ok, now that's a funny handle Bro, especially knowin' you are from the great state of Tennessee. Thanks so much for the kind welcome. This truly does seem like a great forum and I am having a ball here. Keep up the good work.

Welcome to the site. You'll find a lot of information and knowledgable people here. Who knows, we might meet each other riding arounds the 'wilds' of Maryland. Our trike group does get around the Chesapeake area quite a bit, not to mention the few who get out on the long hauls from time to time.

Yogisan, Hmmm, interesting nickname. Thanks for the welcome. Yea, that would be cool, to meet up with your club one day, if it would stop raining on the darn weekends long enough for me to get on the darn thing!!!!! On one hand I have a new beautiful machine beckoning me to ride it to the ends of the earth and on the other I have chores.........:censored: chores!
Rob

We'll ride with just about anybody - we just like trikes and trikers.

The point of this rant is twofold - you need to ride what you want when you want and where you want and you don't need other people to choose your ride for you. See my post "Friends vs Triker Friends" if you need more empirical data . . .

Best wishes from hot, dry, hot, dusty (did I say HOT?) Central Texas.
Glad you're here, M.A.T. No worries, plumberdoug . . .

Blondie Gal, Thank you for the welcome and preparing me for potentially similar results from some of the people we ride with. Great words of wisdom. :beerchug:

And I am with you......all I see is a bike, nothing else. Unless of course someone starts to get crazy and takes off their shirt :giggle:........then I wouldn't see a cruise ship falling over on me............:innocent:

We just set up our group's monthly meeting & ride. We'll be meeting at the Boulevard Diner in Dundalk MD on Saturday, August 27 around 10:00 AM. We'll be having breakfast, our meeting and a ride around the backwoods in that area. You're more than welcome to join us if the location isn't too far away.

Bro,
That is so generous of you to invite us!!!! Believe me, if I can make it I will but I can't promise anything. I know the place well, and recommend the Maryland Crab Soup, although, that might be breakfast oriented.

And Chesapeak H-D up near the Conowingo Damn on Rte. 1 is having their 2012 Bike Intro with demo rides etc. And from Dundalk that's about an hour or more through those backroads and a very nice ride.

Rob

No promises necessary. You're welcome to make it if you can and if you can't, no biggie. We have the meetings every month so you can catch the next one perhaps.

I'm not an expert on that area but I think the ride we took last year was somewhere around the Conowongo Dam. Hard to tell from the trees, switchbacks, barely blacktopped roads, etc. I'm still almost positive I heard the theme song from 'Deliverance' echoing through the tress. 8))

LMAO!!!! Yea, that would be Hazard County as we call it. I wish I could even say I would be able to accommodate a swing by but I'd hate to tell you that not know if it's possible or not to be there. I may be working on my trailer getting it ready for the trip or I may be out running errands........ But I knew for sure then Mi Casa E' Su Casa.

How may Trikes are during the ride?

Rob

We usually have 6 trikes for the meeting/rides. There are a few more members but attendance depends on on members personal schedule, distance to ride to get to the meetings, weather, etc. The current members are from VA and MD around the metro area so we're pretty spread out. The members who attend regularly usually set the whole day aside for the meeting/ride. We have one couple who will be riding up to Dundalk from Charlette Hall, MD, which is like 2/3 the way across MD.

Right now it's a small group but we expect it to start growing as more people find out about us as a local option to GWRRA and HOG. We're a former-TRI-chapter but decided to go independent when TRI went tango uniform. Like TRI and TOI we're open to all three-wheel vehicle riders.

M.A.T., just a heads-up ........ Mr.Wizard has been made a moderator here, so if he tries to get you in trouble again, you are in it BIG TIME!!!! If I were you, I'd keep an eye on him. ;)

Wanted to give you a heads up. Due to the hurricane we rescheduled the meeting time and location. We're having it at 9:00 AM at Rip's Restaurant in Bowie MD. It's somehat of a central location. We figure we can get there (via 3 or 4 wheels), have breakfast and the meeting and skittle-skattle home before the weather really closes in. Looks like we'll try the Baltimore area for next month's meeting and ride.
