The wife and I have been a couple times beginning with the first one they had. This will be the first time on a Trike

It's a great time as far as events go. Where we stay is bay side (cheaper than ocean side) within walking distance to some friends, and even have some friends stay with us. The more the merrier I always say. And as close to the inlet as possible (the Southern part of town). That way after riding all day if we want to we can just walk to the action on the beach, and libate ourselves to death without fear of winding up in the clink!

It's not as chaotic as some larger events but a little more than others. It's a good compromise. Don't get me wrong though, this is an old town and like any resort town they try to cram as much as they can get into every square foot of the place. As such I expect getting into and out of parking lots at the watering holes will be a whole new experience for me. It was bad enough before on a two wheeler. Traffic at night can be pretty sketchy too. It's so much confusion. You have to have your wits about you at all times. But the local fuzz gives you a wide berth and unless you really deserve it they will leave you alone.

There are tons of places to eat right in town or you can venture farther out and see the countryside. St. Michaels is a historic town farther South and from the shoreline you can take a ferry (no vehicles) to Smith Island. If you want to experience Maryland seafood in an authentic setting, this is the place. It all began here. Try the Smith Island Cake!!!

Just to the North is Delaware, and tax free shopping (Outlets!!!), helmet-less riding. It's a real nice ride up the coast from O.C. even though it only takes about 30 - 40 minutes (depending on traffic). And since Ocean City Harley Davidson is not in business anymore the H-D Dealer this year for the event is in Seaford De.

There are sponsored runs. And just tons of things to do in general. Another nice ride is down to Chincoteague Island, VA. It's about a 1.5 hour ride and the bugs down there can crack a windshield but it's still worth the drive.

I recommend it if you've never been, to try at least once. They seem to spread the event locations out further and further each year which is a good thing and a bad thing. It's nice to have to ride but then again, if there's nothing spectacular to see you (like me) will be bored and wonder why all the hoopla........ Why I prefer to just meet up with friends and pick a destination far enough away to make it an adventure, have some grub and suds and then head back for a night of debauchery in town.

Not to be a party pooper but you all do know that the event is being held in Salisbury MD which is about 30 miles west of Ocean city. Just trying to help.

Actually, I really don't care to go down to the beach on this trip. I am going to look at MC seats and ride the Eastern Shore. Will do the beach thing at Myrtle Beach fall rally.

    Yogisan,
Actually, the four official locations are Perdue Stadium, Winter Park Place, and true, both are in Salisbury, about 30 minutes West from Ocean City, but there are two other official locations, one of which is in Seaford, Delaware, at the H-D dealer, which is about an hours drive to the North/West, and the fourth and final official location is at Seacrets right in Ocean City.

Now, and this is just my take on things but these "official" locations are just places to go if you want to spend a lot of money on bike stuff, see a lot of bikes, register for runs, chow down or listen to some really good music, and be around other people with the same interests. I mean you can't go to bike week and not get an official bike week t-shirt can you? But, just FYI, you don't have to go to any of these places to get one. Just about every bar and restaurant will have their own version, and honestly, some of these are cooler. Do we go the official locations, heck yea. If nothing else it gives you a reason to ride somewhere, rather than just wander around. Which is cool too.

Perdue Stadium and Winter Park Place are larger venues with more to see and do, never been to Seaford H-D but if it's anything like OC H-D was then it's worth a trip. Seacrets, well, it's a bayside club (meaning huge bar and restaurant, with sand everywhere, and scantily clad ladies running around). They have some decent vendors here too, but as you weave through them you will just be that much more thirsty by the time you get to the bar and therefore spend that much more money quenching that thirst. I recommend the Orange Crush's anywhere you go though as, well we all know OJ is good for you.

If you are going I would take a look at the website (Delmarva Bike Week) and see for yourself what's going on and where it's all happening. All four locations list the vendors that will be there and the there is an even schedule that lists the bands. Then you might want to spend some time searching the OC websites for local establishments and what they have planned for bike week. The Atlantic Hotel on the boardwalk hosts the only burnout pit I know of with live music and even more vendors. It's a wild time there at night. Don't even take your Trikes in that parking plot. I suggest a cab or the bus.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. I'm a lifelong resident of Maryland, have been to the ocean plenty of times, and well, know a lot about most of the places to eat and drink down there.

Way Cool!!!! I will certainly be on the look out for all trikes and will give the secret wave! Is there a secret wave? Do I now do a three finger peace sign instead of the traditional 2 finger?

Or is it more like this: LMAO!

I think that is a really cool wave, especially when you are all dressed in black trying to look as bad to the bone as possible!

Ok, my review (and the consensus of my wife too) of the 2011 Delmarva Bike Week is a favorable one......definitely saw more Trikes this year than all previous years, and the riders are certainly getting younger. Got asked a boat load of questions, and one day at the w

Had a blast, already planning for next year. Nothing like the 1st one, nothing like any of the ones I've been to. Not so crowded, but definitely the most bikers I've seen there to date. Didn't have any trouble with anyone. Was there the entire week. Pros/Cons are, it's nice to be there before the crowds, in every aspect, but if you are there longer than the event you will spend more money, overall. Otherwise, it's the way to go.

Although, we were at Seacrets, which is an official event sponsor (the wife and I) two days before the actual event and they were not that hospitable at the bar, the first one you see when you walk in. I know my patron bar manners well and was on my best behavior but still, it took almost 15 minutes to get served and the bar was only half full and there were 3 bartenders. Their loss, I was very hot and thirsty.

It rained all day Saturday and into the night, that blew, but we stay at a place near the inlet the everything is within walking distance, including taxis to anywhere we wanted to go, which that night was Dead Freddies.

I highly recommend this place during Bike Week, highly. Food is very good, drinks are phenomenal, I personally recommend the Coco Loco, the Shipwreck, or the one that comes in the 47oz fish bowl. It was red, and cold and fruity. The Coco Loco is wild. First they shave some of the husk off real coconuts, then cut the tops off, then use the milk to mix with your choice of flavored rum. The Shipwreck looks as its name implies. A huge margarita, that has a a bottle of corona turned upside down in it and then a test tube shot of tequila floating in there too. This one was dangerous for the faint at heart. They had some great bands, they had a custom bike on another stage and somehow they had a pole attached to the rear fender and, as you might have guessed, pole dancing, some even au naturale. It was a wild time. Anyway, Dead freddies, ya gotta go!

The guy that sold us our Trike, JB at Chesapeake H-D, organized a fantastic ride Friday, leaving out of OC at 11:00 and going all the way down to Past Pocamoke City, to great little place called the Boonies. Food, Libations, Music, it was wonderful. We had about 100 bikes or more. I felt like I was in a movie. We had some MC members throwin road blocks for us at the lights. It was cool. A lot of people don't dig large group rides. I do. Especially being the only Triker.

The vendors at the official event locations were as expected, overpriced and the same old stuff. I actually bought a new helmet that I had an issue with and might be having an even bigger one getting a refund or replacement but that is another story.

We noticed that they were setting up tents right in the inlet parking lot and putting a fence around the whole place, with designated entrances and exits. We were confused about this until we found as ronchi (post above) stated, that they were in fact having two separate bike events in Ocean City at the same time. One, called Delmarva Bike Week and the other, only at the Inlet called OC Bike Fest?????? when I saw the signs at first I thought it meant bicycle. But then I say an add on tv and there was a motorcycle watermark behind the text. Now, we were busy Thursday and didn't make it down there, and knew we would be busy Saturday too, but on Friday evening we decided to go down and see what was up. They were charging 15 bucks a person to get in!!! Now, of course this was was a 4 day pass but we only wanted to go in that night, for a couple hours. Needless to say, it was unanimous in our group of 12 that we could put that 15 bucks to better use at the bar down the street. lol Someone said they had some pretty good bands there but we will never know........I heard they paid over $80k to rent the lot. I bet they lost money..........

All in all it was a great time as I said early on, and we are already looking forward to next year. Everything is within an eight of mile from everything else and yet I still managed to put 420 miles on the Trike (which for me is more than I ever put on a bike in such a short period) but they were good, fun miles, in all kinds of weather, including pouring rain. I was having so much fun though, we didn't even stop to put on the rain gear. Three wheels are so much more stable than two. And fun!! Did I say fun? It was F-U-N!!!

If you've never been, go, you won't be disappointed. Keep your expectations about the food anywhere sorta low though. I am a self acclaimed gourmet and at almost 300 lbs have the girth to back up my claim. Not sure why but 4 star food is almost impossible to find. But food is only one aspect of the experience. The rest make up for it, especially the Coco Locos!!!!!

We were only up there for the pouring rain event! We did get our mustang seats though and that is why we went. So mission accomplished. Going to Myrtle Beach next week. Hoping we get better weather.

    Hey OlBandit!
We are already making plans, have the place booked, 12th - 16th (Wed - Sun).

We had a blast. Been a couple times, was at the first ever, but this time it was totally different, on the Trike. 10x the comfort level, and riding in the rain is a breeze with three wheels under ya. Takes all the pressure off. And yea, I'd be willing to hook up with any of you guys next year down there. As a matter of fact we did a ride, and I was the only Triker in the bunch. Almost 100 bikes and just me. It's a nice ride too, from OC to a place called the Boonies (ocean city map - Google Maps). Almost 50 miles one way. Not as far as some places but more than any other place you can ride to in/around the town of Ocean City. The guy that organizes it, is a salesman from Chesapeake H-D, and next year he said it will be even better. The food (all you could eat for $12. was catered by Phillips seafood) was delicious. and beers were discounted too I think. Live music, a park like setting, horse shoes, and that other bean bag game. It was great. will be doing that again next time for sure. And they leave at like 11:00 am so you get time to eat breakfast, etc. Anyway........

If anyone needs info on places to stay, the Wife and I have been collecting a lot of data. Actually, I know of two real nice places. For $125 a night, in West Ocean City is a whole house, garage, private off street parking, and practically brand new. Sweet deal. Another is a condo in Ocean City, bay side, and $142 a night. We were gonna go for the house but a friend here at work came through and his sister has a place way up on 120th street. Better price.

PM me if you want, and send me an e-mail address and I will send what I have. That whole house sits on a canal, has a boat launch/dock/lift and all. I feel bad telling them we are not taking it but might next year just to check it out. And there is plenty to do on the West side. Heck, you could stay outta the inlet the whole time and not miss a thing, except maybe the location at Seacrets. The other three are West of OC anyway.

Anyway, I am here if you need any details.
